Thoughts on Decorating for Fall Prior to Fall Equinox and How I’m Feeling About My Own Life

Fall is everywhere right now, but for me, it hasn’t felt like fall at all. I love fall, but this year it has been hard to celebrate fall early. It’s been hot (Over 100 degrees Fahrenheit) in Arizona, which means all my favorite fall activities are put on hold until after the cooler weather comes. With this, and other things that are happening in my life, I just don’t feel like celebrating fall at all.

Since I feel down, I decided to cheer myself up by decorating my house for fall. Right now, parts of the house are currently in states of disarray due to my cleaning frenzy. Still, I wanted to decorate my house in order to cheer myself up.

So far, my house looks really good. It doesn’t look the way I ideally wanted to, but I am happy with the result. Also, I like the time period I put the decorations up: August 22, a month before the official start of fall.

Doing this made me think about when I would ideally like to decorate. For many on social media, decorating for fall starts in August. I even saw fall themed decor posts in early July, right after the 4th of July! Even though I like fall, and fully understand that some of these posts are actually advertisements, I still feel the pressure to put away my summer decor and put up the fall decor early.

Even though I love fall, I love the time period between July to October, when the temperatures in Arizona gradually gets cooler. I love the feeling that comes from the cooler temperatures after a summer full of hot temperatures. Out of all the time periods in the year, the July to October period is my favorite. Since it is the time period from summer to fall, I like to celebrate it differently than anyone living in different areas or climates would. For me, this means keeping summer decor up until September or close to September 1st. Some years I change this and decorate for fall earlier, but this is the ideal time table for me.

This year, things are different. There has been a lot of things changing in my life that I don’t talk about online. Also, a potential career goal hasn’t panned out like I hoped. After these setbacks and changes, I feel pretty down about how life is. My frustrations and sadness has also spread into my decorating for seasons.

As Arizona inches closer to fall, I feel like the change in season is coinciding with the changes in my life. I can’t stop the seasons from changing. I also cannot stop the changes in my life. I am worried about the changes, but I am also looking forward to them. I feel ready for a change in my life. I don’t know where my life is going, but I’m excited.

Even though what is going on in my life is more important than decorating, seeing fall decor around my house instead of summer decor makes me happy. It lifted my mood more than I thought it would. I’m a pretty pragmatic person, so seasonal decor doesn’t ultimately matter to me as much as it does for others. Still, seeing the pretty decor sitting above the chaos of my decluttering has lifted my spirits more than I realized it would.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!

Michaels Craft Store Spring 2023 Faux Topiary Decor

Last week, I went to Michaels Craft store to look for some craft supplies. I ended up not finding anything I needed, but I did find some cute Spring home decor! I didn’t buy anything I saw either, but I did find cute faux topiary decor!

These topiaries are in fun shapes. It has been a while since I saw something like this in person, so I decided to take photographs of them. Sometimes do this in order to see if something will work well in my house. These topiary didn’t look right in my house, but I still enjoyed looking at them.

Spring Solstice is today, so I wanted to write a post to celebrate the new season. After thinking about what to write, I decided to write a post about four of the topiary I saw. I don’t know if anyone cares about them, but I wanted to write something I knew I’d enjoy writing. So here we are! Continue reading “Michaels Craft Store Spring 2023 Faux Topiary Decor”

Lenox 2022 Snow Fantasies Cross and Snowflake Ornament Review

This year, I restricted my Christmas decor as much as I could. Even though I like to buy my favorite Christmas decor every year and add it to my Christmas decoration collection, this year I didn’t find many items I wanted. Even though I didn’t find many items I wanted, I did find many ornaments I liked. I purchased quite a few of them this year, but they are mainly from Hallmark.

Even though Hallmark had plenty of ornaments I wanted, there weren’t many expensive and high end ornaments I wanted. I felt the ornament’s quality is not as nice as in previous years. I felt this way for all the ornaments except for a handful of ornements. After thinking about if I wanted them or not, I found two of the ornaments I liked from Lenox was on sale for a really good price. I decided to purchase them and add them to my collection. DIY Crafts I Want to Make for Next Year’s Christmas

As I write this, I don’t think I have as much free time to work on my sewing, crafting, and general DIY list. I used crafting and sewing as a way to relieve stress. Yet, right now I’m not able to work on everything I planned on! Since I don’t have the time to work on anything, I decided to buy the supplies for everything I wanted to make and make them over the course of the next year for Christmas.

Even though I like to write about what I make on a different blog, I am currently taking a break from it. When I return from my break in January, Christmas will be over. This makes writing a post about all my planned crafting and DIY projects I want to make for Christmas very odd! Instead, I decided to write the post here on this blog as part of Blogmas 2022! Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale In Store Photographs- 2022

Way back in June, Bath and Body Works held their summer semi-annual sale for 2022. At the time, I had many vehicle problems and was too busy to shop it as much as I planned. Despite this, I was able to go for one trip to my old favorite Bath and Body Works store. While I was there, I found products I ended up purchasing and took photographs of the setup for the sale.

Even though I’m out more than a month out of sync with when I should write posts about the sale, I still wanted to write a post about what I saw while shopping there. Continue reading “Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale In Store Photographs- 2022”

5 Tips to Decide if You’ll Enjoy Trendy Christmas Décor 5 Or More Years Later

There are many trends stores and brands like to promote. One of these trends are for Christmas decorations. The influence is everywhere. It’s on social media, in grocery stores, and in the decorations used by shopping areas, cities and towns, and places of business. This is why it can be hard to be a savvy shopper with a desire to shop carefully and mindfully of their budget as well as what they may actually like to own and continue to use for many years to come.

Since it can be so hard to decided if you’ll like the trendy Christmas decorations if you are constantly encouraged to shop, I made up five questions I always ask myself before I purchase something that is a decoration trend for the year.

5 Tips for Buying Christmas Décor You’ll Enjoy for Years

Christmas décor is fun to shop for, but when it comes to purchasing them, it’s hard to justify the high prices for objects that will be used once a year. I struggled with this as a teenager and into my early 20’s, especially as Christmas decoration trends became more prominent on social media. Over time, I developed several tip that allow me to figure out if I will use the décor or if it is a trend I’m buying because I saw it too many times on social media. Michael’s Crafts Halloween Village In Store Photographs 2021

Halloween is rapidly approaching, which makes me sad. I don’t know if it is the pandemic, things happening in my life, or a combination of the two and something else I didn’t realize bothered me, but I haven’t been that excited about Halloween this year. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but this year I just didn’t feel that excited about it.

Despite my lack of excitement over Halloween, I still found plenty of Halloween decorations and costumes in store. One of my favorite decorations is the Halloween village sold at Michael’s craft store. This year, I wanted to take some photographs of the display pieces of the village. My Thoughts on Quotes As Wall Art Trend And Why I’m Ok Seeing It Go Away

For many years, I’ve watched many YouTube videos and read many posts about trends in home decor and furniture. Even though this isn’t my favorite subject to read or watch YouTube videos about, I started doing this because I wanted to learn about what is currently available for purchase and what is considered “trendy”. Recently, I began to see many people mentioning that one of those trends, quotes as wall art, is going out of style.

I thought a lot about this because I did purchase some wall art with quotes on it to go into my future house. I’m not a huge follower of trends unless it is something I actually like and can use for many years to come, but I liked the trend of quotes as wall art. When I was growing up, I used to write quotes I loved to look at and needed to remember on pretty paper and hang it up on my bedroom walls. Even though this predates the quote wall art trend (I did this in the 1990’s) I like having a quote that means a lot to me hanging on my wall. It is my way of encouraging myself whenever I feel sad and down and there isn’t anyone there to talk to.

Because of this, I decided not to get rid of all my quote wall art. I bought them for a reason and I still want to find a place in my future home for them, even though I don’t own the home or know what it will look like yet. Even though I like my quote wall art, I still don’t want to buy any more unless it is something I thought long and hard about purchasing.

This is something I began to thing about when I went shopping for fabric and other art and craft supplies at Hobby Lobby. The pandemic made me become more careful where I shop and how frequently I shop, so when I went into Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago, it had been quite a few months since I went to the store I usually shop at. When I went inside, I was dumbfounded by the amount of quote wall art for sale.

Hobby Lobby and other arts and crafts stores are known for selling quote wall art, but after walking into Hobby Lobby, I was taken back by the amount of quotes available for purchase there. While walking around and looking at all the quotes available for purchase, I began to realize why there are so many people who see quotes as wall art as a trend and soon be outdated.

Of course there are other reasons why Hobby Lobby sells so many quote wall art (Cheaper to create, less copyright issues with an artist, appealing to certain customers, ect.) but after looking at the amount of wall art with quotes on it at once, I began to dislike it. I still love the quote wall art I already own, but I never planned to decorate my house with them all over the place. It would be too overwhelming and I like pictures hanging on my wall more than quotes anyway. So, I’m not going to by any other quote wall art without thinking long and hard about it. After all, if I’m going to spend my money on it, I want to make sure I don’t mind living with. I just hope others are doing the same when they decide to spend their money on something, even if it isn’t quote wall art.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
