Last month, I stopped at Target. This trip ended up being the only trip I made to Target for the month because I was very busy and couldn’t set aside a lot of time to shop for fun. While I was there, I bought a few things I wanted but couldn’t find anywhere else along with two shirts.
On May 7, 2018, the annual Met Gala was held in New York City. If you’ve never heard of the Met Gala, it is a yearly fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of the Art’s Costume Institute and is the opening of the yearly fashion exhibition. The gala is held on the first Monday in May. Attendees of the gala are expected to dress formally but to also fit the theme of the exhibition. Sometimes, the theme of the exhibition makes dressing to fit the formality of the gala hard, but it can be interesting to see how designers interpret the theme.
This year’s exhibition is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination, but the theme for the attendees’ outfits is “Sunday Best”. Since fashion using Catholic imagery would be on display alongside items on loan from the Vatican, many believed that this exhibition would be one of the most controversial exhibitions the Costume Institute ever held. This also posed a problem for the fashion designers who wanted to incorporate Catholic imagery (Such as clerical robes, iconography normally used in the Catholic mass, ect.) in their designs for the attendees at the gala. Some of the designers didn’t mid using Catholic imagery in their designs, while others created designs that are subtitle in their use of the Catholic imagery and are not very controversial at all.
Since this is the first year I’m able to talk about the Met Gala on my blog, I decided to write a post about my favorite looks at the gala. It was hard for me to choose my favorite looks because I wanted my choices to not include a lot of Catholic imagery or, if they do, it doesn’t stand out too much. I also tried to pick some classy looks as well.
Ok! Let’s get started! Continue reading “Top 10 Favorite Looks at the Met Gala 2018”
Last year, the week before my ten year high school reunion, I debated if I should go to the reunion or not. Like many, I didn’t have a great time in high school and the thought of seeing so many people I went to school with and never wanted to see again bothered me a lot. I still wanted to go because my home town holds a parade for homecoming so I could skip any sort of reunion and just watch the parade like the rest of the town. I ended up not going to any homecoming festivities because I got sick earlier in the week (Which I considered a blessing in disguise) but the week before homecoming I decided to buy myself a treat for surviving ten years of life without high school: Two Kate Spade New York bags!
Spring is almost here so I wanted to go back and revisit my post about my favorite fall/winter trends to see if I actually bought anything I had on my list. This doesn’t mean that I will not eventually buy anything I talked about in my post in the future, but this is what I decided to buy since I wrote the post. You can read my fall/winter favorite trends post here.
In 2018, I wanted to write more posts on this blog about topics besides beauty hauls. So far, I’ve failed but I hope to change it by talking about my monthly favorites!
In future posts, want to talk about what I found out and fell in love with during the month. This includes movies, books, TV shows, and anything else I would like to share. I do not plan on writing about beauty and makeup products only, but this month I ended up talking them anyway. So, let’s get started!
Last year, after watching videos about what the Youtubers got for Christmas, I decided not to talk about the presents I received simply because I didn’t feel comfortable talking about what others bought me. Instead, I decided to talk about the presents I bought myself because they would eventually end up here on this blog in one way or another.
Even though it’s the middle of January, some of the Christmas presents I bought myself didn’t show up until last week. Since it took so long to receive the presents (and in the case of my new boots, pick them out) it took me longer than I would like to talk about my presents.
So, onto the presents!
November was a crazy month for me so, even though I wanted to make a few haul posts last month, I was unable to sit down at the computer and write any of them. I originally thought I should write one post about my Spehora hauls throughout November, but I realized it would be too large. So, I decided to split the posts up into two parts.
I did not intend to post this near the end of December, but it ended up that way! So, here it is! The November 2017 Sephora haul Part 1!
It’s that time of the year when there are parties to go to, which means there are Holiday dresses in the stores! I normally do not need to wear a nice dress for a party, but I still like to look at them and think about if I’d like to wear them or not and where I’d wear them at. Since I have so many dresses I like, I wanted to talk about the dresses trends I’ve found that I really like and why I like them so much.
While Black Friday shopping last month, I decided to go into stores I do not normally go into. I discovered some of the new stores had items I wanted for a good price, but they were sold out of my size. Still, I am happy I went into these stores and I now have new stores to shop at in the future.
One of the stores I went to is Charlotte Russe. I never shopped there before, but they had a very good sale (Everything $20 USD and under) and I found a shirt and a sweater I couldn’t find in any other store.
While shopping during Black Friday, I decided to stop by JcPenny’s to see if they had a sweater that I liked on sale. Not only did they have the sweater I wanted on sale, I also found a purse in the style I wanted and a pair of boots in a style I wanted to try wearing.
