Favorite Dior Dresses from the Fall/Winter 2020-2021 Haute Couture Collection

Dior released the video of their fall/winter 2020-2021 haute couture collection on July 6, 2020. The video, which can be seen on YouTube here, popped up on my YouTube recommendations the day before it premiered. When July 6, 2020 arrived, I sat down, watched it, and loved so many of the designs from the collection. I had a hard time picking out dresses I liked from Dior since Maria Grazia Chiuri took over as head designer. Although there are many designs I liked, I also felt like it wasn’t something I could wear with normal curves to my body. It was frustrating to see a fashion house I loved growing up but now as an adult can’t wear. But the 2020-2021 collection was an exception.

There are many dresses I would love to own, if I was going somewhere I needed to wear a formal dress, as well as an 1890’s style dress that makes my Steampunk side excited to see as “fashionable” in 2020. Because there are so many dresses I love, I wanted to feature my favorite dresses in this collection.

All the photographs in this post are from Vogue US’s coverage of the collection. You can see the coverage of the collection here.

Favorite Starbucks Secret Drink Recipe Tiktok Compilation Videos

After watching hours of YouTube videos I didn’t know existed, I was recommended some Starbucks secret drink recipe videos. The videos are originally from Ticktok, but I don’t have a Tiktok account so I wouldn’t be able to see the videos unless there was compilation YouTube videos. After watching as many as I could find, a few of the videos stood out to me as my favorites. Continue reading “Favorite Starbucks Secret Drink Recipe Tiktok Compilation Videos”

Favorite Bath and Body Works Fall Scents

Bath and Body Works recently begun to release their fall scented candles and Wallflowers online. Based of my experience recently visiting one Bath and Body Works store, I really don’t know if there will be any in store, but I know some are currently available online.

Since I’m very excited to see Bath and Body Works’ fall scents available again, I wanted to share my favorite Bath and Body Works fall scents. Continue reading “Favorite Bath and Body Works Fall Scents”

Why I’m So Excited About Christmas in July 2020

Last Saturday was the day Hallmark Gold Crown releases the first of three waves of Christmas ornaments. The Hobby Lobby nearest me has some Christmas trees already out and there are Christmas in July sales. Many people may groan at all the Christmas things now available, but I’m very excited to see them out.

While it’s true I love Hallmark Gold Crown’s ornaments and do shop for them in July, I don’t always like to see many Christmas decorations and items for sale. It is always too early for them and I enjoy looking at the fall decor more. (Especially the fall scents! They always remind me of cooler weather… which I need during Arizona’s hot July weather.)

This year, I feel different about Christmas in July.

All the excitement connected to Christmas is something I need right now to cheer me up. It also reminds me that there is something exciting coming sooner rather than later. After the lock downs and shut downs, I can truthfully say nothing can cancel decorating a Christmas tree, Christmas movies, or seeing Christmas lights on neighbor’s houses. There will need to be social distancing, but at least there is something to do and look forward to.

I know there will be people who won’t be excited for Christmas and there will be obvious changes to celebrations for Christmas including some nobody will know about until it happens, but I want to be optimistic about this Christmas season as well as optimistic in general.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!

Do You Need to Own Luxury Items To Be Considered Classy and Feminine?

For a few years, I’ve fallen down the dark hole of luxury YouTube videos. In the videos I normally watch, there are shopping trips to luxury brand boutiques, luxury hauls, and yearly collection videos. After watching them for a few years, I can honestly say that I cannot afford to buy enough luxury items yearly because I don’t make enough money. There were years when I did make enough money to buy them, but then I got sick and all the money I probably would’ve spent on luxury items went to doctor bills and other health related costs.

Because of the costs related to my illness, I began to look at luxury items in a different light. Back when I was a teenager there were luxury bags, accessories, and clothes I liked and would love to own, but couldn’t afford because… well… I was a teenager and I needed to go to college. Today, I still love those same items, and bought my favorites on the second hand market, but after all these years, and getting sick along the way, I began to realize as a teen I believed in order to be a classy, feminine lady of great importance you will need to own a wardrobe full of luxury brand named clothes, shoes, and accessories. My Disneyland Ride Bucket List 2020

Walt Disney World recently reopened after being closed to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Even though Disneyland is still closed, if I were to travel to a Disneyland park it would be Disneyland. Although there is a huge debate about which is better, Disney World or Disneyland, I prefer Disneyland because it’s the first park and it closest to where I live.

I’m not doing any traveling right now, but that doesn’t seem to stop me from making plans for a future vacation to Disneyland. Although it will take me a while before I visit Disneyland again, I made a bucket list of rides I want to go on as soon as I visit Disneyland again. Bath and Body Works Body Wash Haul- June 2020

I placed and order from Bath and Body Works’ website in June 2020 for body washes and wallflowers. I wanted to buy them in store, but at that time the nearest Bath and Body Works was closed. So, the only way to buy anything from Bath and Body Works was online. On the day I placed my order, there was a buy three get three free sale on body washes, including the retired fragrances. Since I wanted to buy body washes, I decided to use this opportunity to buy all the retired fragrances I wanted to buy, but never did because they were unavailable in store. Can You Have A Social Media Presence Without Showing Yourself On It? (Yes You Can)

During my blogging break, I began to think about my social media sites including this blog. I enjoy blogging and writing is something I enjoy doing, but after looking at other lifestyle blogs that focused on topics I wanted to talk about on this blog I became worried. The bloggers of the lifestyle blogs I looked at showed their faces. They had great photographs of themselves featured in many of their posts. And their other social media profiles also had beautiful photographs of them on them. Although everything about their blogs fit the style of the blogs and the subject matter they talked about, I felt self continuous about being a blogger because I never post photographs of myself.

Although I have photographs of myself, I don’t like posting them because they were taken while I was sick and didn’t feel very well. I didn’t mind photographs taken of me, but I didn’t want to post them until my health improved beyond a certain point. I still have not passed that certain point so I don’t post photographs of myself online. Despite this, I wanted to have a blog, an Instagram, and YouTube channel. So, I needed to get creative with how I approached my social media presence. I didn’t post selfies of myself on Instagram. Instead I posted photographs I took that I’m proud of. I can’t post photographs of my outfit of the day, so I share pictures of clothing I enjoy owning. But as for YouTube, things are a little bit harder.

I know certain YouTube videos I want to make will make it impossible to be hidden behind the camera and doing a voice over, but others can. Sadly, I can’t make as many YouTube videos as I want to because of this. So, I focused on making videos that allowed me to be hidden and keep a list of future videos I want to make that will need me in front of the camera.

Even though I decided to refrain from posting photographs of myself, I still wondered if there are bloggers or YouTubers that are like me and don’t show themselves on camera. Like I said before, after searching for bloggers that chose to stay offline that blogged about topics I wanted to blog about was hard. I know there are bloggers who don’t show themselves online or if they do it’s sparse, but during my search I couldn’t find anyone. I found this strange because I have followers on this blog that don’t show themselves much if at all online. So what’s going on?

The problem with my searches is that I turned to Google to help me find new bloggers. Google likes to put certain blogs at the top of the search results because the blog’s follower count is high. In fact, after looking at the blogs and bloggers’ social media pages, I realized they are influencers, not passionate blogging hobbyists like me. Although I hope to one day earn some extra money from my blogs, I’m not interested in turning it into a career. I always had other jobs that helped pay my bills and, after seeing what lengths some influencers go to in order to keep money steadily flowing into their bank accounts, it’s not something I would like to do for a profession.

Since I’m not willing to become a full-time influencer, I have the freedom to choose what I want to post, when, and why. I don’t need to focus on showing myself online when I’m not physically, mentally, or emotionally ready to do so. Instead, I can have blogs, YouTube, and other social media profiles and not feel pressured to enhance my persona online by posting photographs of myself or needing to show myself online in order to have the potential for a sponsored post or video.

Yet, is it possible to take sponsored posts without showing yourself on social media? It depends on a variety of things. After following Japanese and South Koren YouTube channels for a while, I know they do receive requests for sponsored videos. One YouTuber, Rhea Y., mentioned it in her video called “It’s Payday! Do You Need Money to be Happy? My Payslip & Monthly Budget” that she does receive sponsorships for products in her videos. So, can this style of product placement and sponsorship on social media work in the United States?

In my opinion, it could, if the company wants to work with the influencer. The problem is companies that normally work with social media influences in the United States and Western countries generally expect the person to be more of a model and/or a spokesperson instead of showing off their product. Sophie Shohet, an influencer who works a nine to five day job as a marketer, made a video talking about how and why luxury brand gift bags to influencers. Although this video focuses on luxury brands, she does talk about other brands in general and how it fits into the marketing budget of companies and touches briefly on some criteria for influencers brands want to work with.

So, back to my original topic of this post: Can you have a social media presence without showing yourself online? Absolutely. I’m doing it. Others are doing it. And many more will do it in the future. The key to doing it successfully is focusing on a broad topic you can talk about without needing to show yourself. But can you become an influencer or internet famous because of it? Probably not. Unless the topic you pick for your social media is something that is generally accepted as a topic that doesn’t need a human presence to be viewed, it will be harder to be seen as someone who has the potential to become famous or make a career out of social media. And that’s not counting how hard it is to become Insta-famous or a professional influener even if you do post photographs and video of yourself online.

As for me, I don’t mind. I keep my blogs as a way to share my interests and hobbies with others. Also, after years of being sick, having a blog serves as a therapy for me. Many years ago, my doctors recommended I start a blog for sewing, art, and photography because I felt as though my passion for my hobbies in any way shape or form was gone. Talking about them online and forcing myself to interact with others brought me out of my comfort zone and made me more confident in who I am, what I like, and what I don’t like. Although others may come to social media and blogging for other reasons, this is mine. And I’m happy I can do it without the pressure of showing myself online while I’m sick and not ready to because it’s my job.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!

Fighting the Temptation of Indulging and Spoiling Yourself After a Bad Season in Your Life

Recently, a thought hit me like a rock dropped on a foot. After years and years of thinking about buying myself luxury items, a nice home, a vehicle, and very nice clothes, I still am not financially able to purchase these things. My current shopping indulgences include books from Walmart, Target, and Amazon, DVDs and going to the movies (Before theaters closed due to Covid-19), and shopping at Bath and Body Works during semi annual sales. Instead of going on vacations to the beach somewhere, I instead spent my time going to local events that I could get to in an hour or less. Even though I would love to go on a shopping spree at a luxury brand boutique or rent a house next to the beach, I couldn’t because it was never in my budget.

Recently, my desire to push myself to shop for luxury items and make plans for a future vacation somewhere got worse. And I had no idea why. Then, it hit me. I wanted to treat (Actually more like indulge and spoil) myself for surviving my illness.

If you are new to my blog, I suffered from an antibiotic resistant infection for many years. In June 2018, I was given a clear bill of health but I still needed to see specialist because of complications associated with the infection. In June 2020, my complications improved so much I was told I could see normal doctors again, such as a primary care physician, instead of the specialists I saw for many years. The amount of money I needed to put towards my medical care dropped substantially and that gave me more money to spend as fun money instead of paying for medical bills.

Although I want to buy myself something special to celebrate the fact I survived being sick for so long and all the complications associated with the infection, I wanted to buy myself something from Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, or a piece of jewelry that I will enjoy owning for years and years to come. The problem is after years of spending money on medical bills, I don’t have much of a savings, which makes affording anything directly from luxury brands such as the ones I previously mentioned impossible. I searched resellers for bags and jewelry in my price range, but thanks to price hikes by the brands due to worries about the current state of the economy, the demand for second hand luxury items is high… meaning there aren’t many items in my price range anymore.

Vacations are also out of the question because of Covid-19. Also, it is very uncertain when I could be able to travel, aside from road trips, because I’m still trying to get used to living my new, healthy life. So, a major trip by plane right now would be dumb at best.

But I still wanted to indulge myself with something special as a commemoration of this important part of my life. And it bothers me more than I’m willing to admit that I still don’t have the money to buy myself something I know I want and will enjoy.

After dwelling on the fact I can’t afford anything I want, nor should I travel anywhere for my personal health and safety, I realized something: I don’t need those things to make this important part of my life important. The reason why I wanted a luxury hand bag or jewelry was some sort of an object that I could associate with this time period for sentimental reasons. As for a vacation, I wanted to show myself that I’m now healthy enough to travel to distant places without needing to worry about my health the way I used to. I don’t need a vacation to prove I’m healthier than I used to be. All I need to do is think about all the things I accomplish in a day and I’ll know then I’m healthier than I used to be. As for a sentimental object, it’s hard for me to for an emotional attachment with an object without it being around when I needed comfort or some other reason why I need to use it. To just buy a Channel classic flap, Christian Dior Lady Dior, or Louis Vuitton’s Speedy 30 is not going to make me happy unless it has a special reason for being in my wardrobe. And as of right now, buying it as an indulgence for myself right now is not going to make me happy.

Although I like quality items and seeing new places and meeting new people, those items are not the kind of indulgence I want to have right now. Instead, I want something simpler. I already have an idea what I want to buy, but I know I will like it and enjoy it way more than anything I used to think I will enjoy buying, owning, or doing around this time of my life. Plus, it’s well within my budget.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!

Sneaking a Peek At Hallmark’s 2020 Ornaments

Earlier this week, I had to go to mall to return some items. While waiting for the stores to open, I walked around the mall to see what’s different and what isn’t. The mall I went to has a Hallmark store inside, so I peeked inside the windows to see what’s there. That’s when I saw the set up for Hallmark’s ornament premiere that would happen later in the week.

The store was closed at that time, so I took a photograph of what ornaments the front of the store had on display and some of the decorations for it…

I didn’t go inside when the store opened, but when I looked through the windows I could see some of the ornaments already on display, but not available for sale.

I’m sad I won’t be able to go to this year’s Ornament Premiere. I decided not to go on Saturday or Sunday because it’s going to be ridiculously hot those days (Saturday will be 116 degrees and Sunday will be 117 degrees) and the earliest the stores will be open is 11 AM. 11 AM is too late in the day to escape at least some of the hot temperatures, so I will shop the event next week when temperatures will be a little bit cooler.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
