My Summer Plans for 2023

Summer’s unofficial start is coming soon. For many people, it means it’s time to take advantage of this time of the year and do fun things. For me, I feel like my plans for this summer season are pretty flexible. I don’t have a lot of plans to do anything major or special, but if I see an opportunity to do something special, I will!

Even though my plans are pretty flexible, there are some major plans I want to do at least once this season. Some of them are things I want to continue after summertime begins while others are things that remind me summertimes, yet are more inexpensive than traveling.

Continue Cleaning and Decluttering

I started cleaning and decluttering earlier this year and that’s what I want to continue doing during the summertime. It feels like it is never-ending, but I have been making progress. Things are getting more organized and cleaner. I’m really happy about it! I still have much more to do, but I’m going to focus on the things I can finish right now before I worry about everything else.

Go to a Mall

It’s been a long time since I went to a mall. There are certain malls I used to shop at frequently for clothes and other things, but I haven’t been to them in a while. This summer, I would like to go shopping at the malls again. I used to go shopping for clothes during the summertime for school, so it is more about nostalgia for me than actually shopping for clothes.

Watch the 4th of July Fireworks

I watch the local 4th of July fireworks every year. This year is no different. I may try to make it a little more exciting by changing my view point this year. I planned to do it last year, but I didn’t have my vehicle at that time. My vehicle has a sun roof, so I wanted to watch the fireworks with it open. Now that my vehicle is fixed, I may try to do it this year.

Go to a Cracker Barrel to Shop

I have a soft spot for country style decor and stores that sell them. One of my old favorites when I was a teenager was visiting the Cracker Barrel. I would eat and shop there at least once every summer. This year, I want to relieve this old tradition by going to a Cracker Barrel and shopping. I considered also eating a meal there, but I feel really awkward to eat by myself there. So, I’ll go shopping there instead.

Watch Some of My Favorite 2000’s Movies

While doing my cleaning and organization of things, I discovered a lot of old movies I used to watch when I was a teenager in the 2000’s. I wanted to rewatch them again just for nostalgic sake. Also, it’s an opportunity to decide which ones I want to keep and which ones I don’t.

Read

Along with the movies, I also want to read more this summer. While cleaning, I found more books I want to reread. These books remind me of summertime or are books I actually read during the summertime in years gone by. So, I want to use my down time reading at home.

Sew, Knit, and Work On Other DIY Projects

I have a lot of sewing, knitting, and other DIY projects to work on it. One of the major projects I need to work on is to make myself a black cotton dress. Other sewing and knitting projects I need to work on include a coat or jacket, cardigan, winter accessories, and sweaters. I’m pretty sure I won’t get everything on my to-make list will get done, but I know I will finish the knitting patterns and finish drafting the sewing patterns as well. As for my DIY projects, I have wood decor to paint. Some of them are seasonal, but others are not. I’m going to see how far I get in painting them before the end of the summer season.

Cook Some of My Favorite Summer Foods

The last thing on my summer plans list is to cook some of my favorite summertime foods. I really miss certain foods I usually eat during the summertime, so this year I want to create more of them. This means more salads, certain sweet treats, and possibly homemade popsicles! I had a plan to make homemade ice cream, but I decided not do. Not only is it a major undertaking, I also don’t have an ice cream machine! Ice cream can still be made without a machine, but I prefer it.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
