Work on My House: What I Did, What I’m Working on, and What I Still Need to Do

It’s that time of the year when the weather has cooled off enough for me to work on my house! I like to work on the interior of the house whenever the weather is cooler. This way I can keep the windows open to ventilate the room without worrying about the summertime heat.

I started working on the house last week. I have a long list of things to tackle and so far things are going well, but slowly. I need to buy more supplies and obtaining them in stores where I live can sometimes be harder said than done. So, I need to order them online and wait for them to arrive.

Since I’m in full house repairs and refreshes mode, I thought it would make a good post idea to talk about some of my plans. For privacy reasons, (And because I don’t know if I will accomplish them in a timely manner) I decided to not include all the things on my to-work-on list.

Here are the things I have done already…

  • I re caulked the bathroom! It isn’t the cleanest caulking, but I also haven’t caulked anything for many years. I felt frustrated because of how messy it looked but I felt better after I began to clean it up. Even though my caulking job isn’t ideal, it is keeping the water out and makes everything look much nicer too!

Things I’m working on…

  • I started to paint my bathroom closet! Like the rest of the bathroom and all around the house, the closet (Which is more like a linen closet) needs to painted badly. I was able to start painting one shelf before I needed to stop. I hope to work on it before the end of the year.
  • I’m still patching holes all around my house. I can’t believe how many holes there are around the house. Some are pin holes while others are much larger damage to the walls. Since there are so many holes, I decided to patch them as I move to room to room. That way I won’t become overwhelmed by the work I need to do and frustrated whenever I miss a hole or wall damage.

Things I need to do…

  • Paint the kitchen. It is the first place I decided to paint after the bathroom. Parts of it are so badly warn down I may paint parts of the kitchen before I restart work on the bathroom closet. I would like to get these areas painted before Thanksgiving.
  • Caulk the rest of the house. I have a lot of caulking to do around the house! The windows are the worst and need the most attention.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
