5 Reasons I Love (and 5 Reasons Why Hate) This Month in Arizona- July

It’s finally July here in Arizona! It is the time of the year when, like the rest of the country, we celebrate the 4th of July, eat plenty of ice cream, and enjoy so many other luxuries that make summertime so enjoyable. Since I live in Arizona, I also have found some major downsides that come along with this month. (One of them being the heat and the monsoon storm season!)

Continuing my post series of why I love and hate all the months in Arizona, I found many things I don’t like about July. What surprised me was all the reasons why I love this month as well! I honestly thought I would struggle to find reasons why I love this month, but it came pretty easily.

Here are the previous posts in this series…

Here are the five reasons I love July in Arizona….

  1. 4th of July and all the events!
  2. Summer break is still going.
  3. School in certain school districts in Arizona starts this month. If you don’t have children or they don’t start school this month, road trip destinations are less crowded.
  4. July is hot, but traditionally isn’t as hot as June can be.
  5. Waterparks and public pools are still open!

And here are the five reasons why I hate July in Arizona…

  1. It’s really hot on the 4th of July.
  2. 4th of July fireworks sometimes get canceled due to the threat of forest fires.
  3. For many school districts in Arizona, school summer break ends earlier than most. For others, their break ends this month!
  4. The monsoon (Seasonal summertime weather pattern for the state and other parts of the Southwest) officially starts in June, but July is when the storms become normal.
  5. Did I mention the monsoon storms cause massive dust storms called a haboob? They’re really serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly! (Especially when driving in certain areas of Arizona!)

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
