Beauty Product Favorites- June 2024
June 2024 was a rough month for me. Along with stress from work (And other life related stress), there was no water to my house for three days and a power outage on a day when outdoor temperatures were over 115 degrees Fahrenheit. None of these things helped my ongoing healing from my eczema flare up from last year.
Even though I went through some pretty stressful situations last month, my eczema didn’t flare up too badly. In fact, I was able to calm it down enough that my skin swelling decressed more than it was at the beginning of the month! I credit this to my change in lifestyle by focusing more on sitting down and resting more often, ridding my life of stressors (Thus why I’m so interested in declutting and cleaning), and a major change in beauty products I use.
I made major changes since December in the kind of products I use and why. As an extra layer of precaution, I am not using any fragrances. I have an idea when I will start to wear them again, but it probably won’t be until November at the earliest. Also, I am also not wearing much makeup. The makeup I do wear is the same products in the same color. All these things have improved my skin condition and made swelling go down.
Even though my beauty favorites for June 2024 are either very eczema friendly products or are old makeup products I may have talked about before in the past, I still wanted to write a post dedicated to them. They are truly my beauty favorites for the month and, even though they may not provide a lot of inspiration to anyone looking for new products, they are something I am using and work very well to care for my body and my overall health.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
I cannot use over the counter steroid creams (And probably can’t use them in general) due to my allergies, so I’ve had to find other creams to use that will be effective for my eczema flare ups. One of the creams I like to use is First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream. The cream is rich, but not heavy and is very hydrating. Even though it didn’t fix my eczema alone, applying the cream has improved it substantially. Since changing my lifestyle and adding and taking away beauty products, I discovered the cream is far more effective now than it was before.
Dove Soothing Relief Moisturizing Body Wash for Eczema-Prone Skin
This body wash was the newest addition in my fight against my eczema. It has helped a lot! I was surprised by how effective it is on my skin! It has quickly become my favorite body wash to use. The body wash has 5% nourishing serum with colloidal oatmeal. It really soothes my skin and calms down any itches or irritating feelings on my skin within minutes of washing with it. I have also felt a major difference hours after I wash. I really recommend this body wash to anyone suffering from eczema instead of the Dove beauty bar for sensitive skin. (I used to use the beauty bar for sensitive skin as a child to ward off eczema symptoms. In my teens, it wasn’t as effective anymore (Probably because the formula changed) so I discounted using it. I tried to use it last year, but it still wasn’t helpful, so I discounted using it again.)
Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
I’m still trying this facial cleanser out, but so far it has been just as effective on my facial skin as the Dove body wash has been on my body skin. Like the Dove body wash, this facial cleanser has oat in it. So far I noticed my skin is more hydrated and looks better.
Sun Bum Sunscreens
I talked about using Sun Bum sunscreens last year, but I didn’t talk much about them since. I decided to the facial sunscreen and body sunscreen instead of a mineral based sunscreen. Since December, I haven’t noticed any irritation from them. They are hypoallergenic, which is why I decided to use them.
Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in My Rose
Rimmel London’s Stay Glossy lip gloss in the shade My Rose is my ride or die lip gloss. I started wearing it in college and I still wear it to this day. After that many years of using it, I decided to use my favorite Stay Glossy color as one of the makeup I am still using while my skin recovers. I haven’t seen or experience any negative reactions so far, so I’m pretty optimistic that I can still continue use this lip gloss while my recovery from my eczema flare up continues.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
