5 Ways to Celebrate International Tiara Day

Today is officially International Tiara Day! According to the website nationaltoday.com, Tiara Day is…

Tiara Day is an international holiday that is celebrated on May 24 every year. It is a holiday used to empower women and celebrate them for their amazing contributions to the home and society. A tiara is a piece of jewelry worn on the head of a woman that represents intelligence and strength. Every woman deserves a crown for the work that they do every day, and that is why Tiara Day was set aside to remind women to celebrate themselves and for others to appreciate all their hard work. Giving power to women benefits society as a whole, as women are responsible for the continuation and raising of future generations.

When I heard about the holiday back in the 2000’s, I was really happy! I loved the idea to celebrate women and tiaras! Today, I can honestly say that, even though I don’t celebrate the day the way I wish I could (By wearing a tiara) I still enjoy seeing people online celebrate it.

In honor of the day, I created a list of five of my favorite ideas to celebrate this day. Some are obvious (Wear a tiara) while others are meant to celebrate the meaning of the day beyond the tiara. I hope this list gives you plenty of ideas on what you can do today and for future International Tiara Days!

Wear a Tiara

The most simplest ways to celebrate International Tiara Day is to wear a tiara! It may look out of place and make the wearer feel silly, but it’s the day to shine! So, wear one for a half an hour or for the whole day. If you can’t wear a tiara, but still want to wear something special, consider a headband with rhinestones and other elements that tiaras have.

Watch a Princess Movie

Don’t feel like looking like a princess? Don’t worry! Celebrate by watching a princess themed movie! There are plenty of them to watch. There are the Disney princess movies, The Princess Diaries, and The Princess Bride. And don’t forget about the royal themed Hallmark movies!

Give Cards to the Women in Your Life Praising Them for Their Intelligence and Strength

Even though this is a day named after a beautiful accessory associated with royalty, it is also a day to celebrate the intelligence and strength of women. If you want to focus on this meaning of the day, consider giving cards to the women in your life that inspire you. Write a short note praising them and complementing them on their intelligence and strength. You can also give cards with a tiara on it!

Do a Princess Themed Activity

If you have a little one that wants to celebrate International Tiara Day, then consider doing a princess themed activity. The actives can include making their own tiaras, wands, and having a tea party. If you have an older child or want to do a princess themed activity for adults, consider activities inspired by what real live princesses do! The easiest one is to do something that helps their community. This includes volunteering at a homeless shelter and animal shelter. Research real live princesses and what type of things they do to help their community. Then try to figure out how to do this in a normal, non royal version.

Take Some Time for Self Care

If you don’t have the time to do anything on this list, then consider taking some time for self care. Princesses have a reputation to be really spoiled. Sadly, this reputation is sometimes very well earned. A healthy alternative of this to take time for yourself. You can spoil yourself by getting hair and nails done or go on a shopping spree. (Shopping spree much be within budget, of course!) Take a bubble bath. Light a candle in a scent you like. Or just take fifteen minutes to read a book you have been too busy to read. Or take a fifteen minute long nap. Just take the time do something that will improve your physical and mental well being!
