One Month Update to My Low-Buy Start to 2020
The first month of 2020 is over and now it’s time for me to reflect how my low-buy start to the year is going. If you want to see what I wanted to limit my buying on, I talked about what I’m doing a low buy on in this post. I’m still doing my low buy and so far I’m doing well, but there are certain things I noticed about my buying habits I wanted to reflect on.
Make Up
So far I’m doing well not purchasing new make up. I didn’t need to replace any make up that I ran out of, so I didn’t bother looking for anything in the make up section. I did browse it, but I didn’t find anything tempting. The only time I was tempted to buy more make up was in the beginning of the month when I decided I wanted to do a low buy in the beginning of the year. It took a week or so to get used to, but once I did I didn’t feel tempted anymore. I still sometimes get drawn to the make up section of the store, but the lack of products I really want has helped me resist the urge to buy more make up.
Skin Care Products
This past month I began to run out of make up wipes so, I repurchased them. Although I’m not purchasing skin care products, I am on the hunt for a new face scrub. My old was was… well… old and I fell in love with a new scrub that I cannot seem to find in stock in any Ulta or Sephora I shop at. Because of this, I am looking for a new face scrub. Other than that, I’m in no need to change my skin care routine nor buy new products at this time.
Bath and Body Works
Well, I broke this one. I planned to coat through the month of January without looking at Bath and Body Works… until I browsed the store for deals. I found some pocketbac holders in the semi annual sale that I missed. I needed new pocketbac holders, so I bought some. I thought that was it…. until I learned they brought out strawberry pound cake scented body wash, candles, and Wallflower plugs. I wanted to buy strawberry scented body washes last year, but they didn’t carry the ones I liked. Although I held off buying the body washes, I have my eye on the Wallflower plug. Oh, and did I mention I bought a new Wallflower plug which allowed me to get a Wallflower of Sweet Pea for free. So yes. I didn’t last the whole month on my Bath and Body Works… which makes me wonder if I should allow myself to buy anything from Bath and Body Works as a gift or in the scent I’m currently looking for but cannot find anywhere else.
Victoria’s Secret Perfumes and Body Sprays
I did fine with this one. I did buy a back up of one of my favorite fragrance from Victoria’s Secret because it was part of the semi annual sale, but other than that, nothing. I do feel tempted to shop the body sprays because they are bring out the spring scents. I always love spring scents, but I didn’t walk into a Victoria’s Secret store to prevent myself from being tempted.
Clothing
This one is one I might break in February or March. I am still planning on sewing myself new clothes this year, but I also want to add in a few better quality pieces that I found on sale. Right now coats are on sale, so I’m browsing them with the serious intention to buy one for next winter. I have a better idea what shape by body will be by this time next year, which allows me to shop better than I did a few months ago. I’m not sure if I will break this low buy, but I think if I do, it will be for a new coat. Because my current one is wearing out.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
