The Search for Camping Gear for At Home Summer Fun

Summer is coming soon. I am both excited and nervous about summer this year. I am excited about the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Yet, I am nervous because I live in Arizona, where the temperatures are hot during the summer months.

Since this summer is a special one, I wanted to start preparing for it now before everything is either sold out or impossible for me to afford. I don’t need much, but I do need some camping equipment.

Camping is a common activity for the summer. I have camped before with my friends, but that was many years ago. I also used their camping equipment. This year, I don’t plan on going camping, but do need a few pieces of camping equipment.

The major piece of equipment I need are chairs. I noticed for the past few years I would’ve like to use the types of chairs I used to use while camping with my friends. Since I don’t own any, I need to buy them. After searching for camping chairs, I found the most budget friendly are from Walmart. They are from their in house brand Ozark Trail and cost around $10 rounded up. (They have chairs in other price points, but I decided the one I bought is the right one for me) I already purchased one chair, but I would like to have two in case my relative wants to sit outside with me this summer.

Other pieces of equipment I want to buy, but am not in a hurry to purchase, are a camping table, either a canopy or a tent that can function as a canopy, and a cooler. My idea is to use all these things to sit outside and enjoy the night sky in my back yard. I also haven’t had a cooler in many years, so I feel like it would be a great time to search for one.

In my search for these new camping pieces, I found two Ozark Trail canopies that look really promising. They are around 50 or so dollars. There is a kit that I can purchase separately that will allow me to have walls and mesh on the sides of the canopy. That way I can keep the sun and bugs out of my canopy. Even though this is exactly what I am looking for, I still want to keep searching for a tent. I am hoping to find a tent that will also be able to function as a canopy, but had a floor. I’m worried about bugs crawling into the canopy (Which they have been known to do in my back yard) and cause problems. I think a tent with a floor to it would help me out with any bug problems.

As of right now, I haven’t been able to find a camping table I feel comfortable purchasing. The one I saw and kind of like is around $70. I think if the table is a good quality table, then it would be worth paying for it. Yet, right now I would rather buy another chair and save my money to buy the canopy or tent. I am also not totally convinced I really do like the table that much. As for the cooler, I have browsed coolers before, but I want to do a more intensive search for coolers than I have done in the past.

Overall, I am happy with what little progress I have made to add to my camping equipment. I already have cooking essentials (Pans, grill for a campfire, ect.) and a few other things, but I am happy with them. I still am not ready to embark on a camping trip, but I am more focused on staying home and enjoying the area where I live right now. Things around my house are supposed to be changing sooner rather than later, so I want to enjoy nature where I live before things change.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
