An Update on My Eczema and Allergies- January 2025
For the past few years, I’ve been focusing on improving my eczema and reducing the amount of allergens in my food. I’m happy to say that I’m doing much better! I’m not completely eczema free and I don’t have any food based allergic reactions anymore, but the constant swelling in my body due to my allergies has gone done a lot. Also, my skin is healing from the eczema.
There are a few reasons why this happened, but the main reasons are because of major changes to my diet, major changes to my lifestyle, and I found a body wash that works great for my skin.
I’m going to start by talking about the simplest to explain: My body wash.
I found a body wash that works really well with my skin problems. It is Tree Hut’s body wash. Their body wash is not formulated for people with eczema or sensitive skin, but it is hydrating. After trying many eczema body washes, I had problems with their formula. These body washes would either be ingredients that I’m allergic to or does not clean my skin really well. Tree Hut’s body wash is hydrating, cleans really well, and doesn’t have ingredients I’m allergic to.
For the past six or so months, I’ve been using Tree Hut’s body wash. I noticed my skin became more moisturized (And softer because of it) and my eczema improved as well. Although I really like Tree Hut’s body wash, I don’t recommend it for anyone looking for a body wash for eczema and sensitive skin. Even though I have had really great success using it, I still don’t want anyone looking for a body wash for their own skin problems to use it as well. I use it because it works well for everything I want it to and, most importantly, it doesn’t have ingredients I’m allergic to.
Even though my body wash has made a big difference in my health, I also made major changes to my diet. I still make my own bread, which has helped me a lot. I have also began to remove certain foods from my diet. They include certain types of chips, candy, and chocolate. I also no longer buy cake and brownie mixes because they contain my allergens. I have been able to find other candy and chocolate to eat or bake with, but they are not normally carried in grocery stores where I live. So, I need to either order them online or go without. Since I need sweet treats every now and then (Especially when I’m on my period), I’ve become a better baker, which makes me happy! I used to enjoy baking as a hobby, so getting into baking for health purposes does bring me more joy than I thought it would. All these changes have helped me get my allergies into check and make them more regulated.
Changing my diet has really helped me beyond words, but something else I discovered that has also helped me is a lifestyle change. I used to go shopping in an area where there are farm fields. I don’t have problems with farms, nor do I have any allergy related problems with crops some of the farms in the area where I like to shop at. Sadly, this is not consistent for all farms. The crops, along with the fertilizer and pesticides uses on these crops, cause me to have an allergic reaction by just exposure while shopping.
Last year, I had serious problems with my vehicle. (I had problems with the computer used in the engine) I ended up buying a new vehicle and I haven’t had a problem since. Since I needed a new vehicle, I decided to cut back on shopping and doing anything “fun” for a while so I can save money. I also needed to work on my house and make some much needed improvements to it. Since I was spending my spare time at home, I rested more. And that helped me a lot!
I was shocked by how stressed out I was. I’ve gone through stressful times in my life, but the stress I experienced since 2020 was the worst I’ve ever known. In 2025, things began to slow down and I had some time to relax. All the time I spent at home helped my body recover from any allergic reaction I had. Also, staying away from the area where I like to shop at heavily reduced my exposure to the allergens from the farms. I knew staying away from these farms would help my body, but I didn’t know how much it actually impacted me. Now that I know this, I’ve been trying to think of ways to avoid shopping there and find what I want and need in areas where I won’t be exposed to my farm-based allergies.
Overall, I’m really happy with my progress. I still need allergy medication and have allergic reactions to food, but overall I’m making way more progress that I used to. I am so glad I began to take my health more seriously. I do wish I started working on this many years ago, but I didn’t know what I know I even had eczema and food allergies like I do today. I just hope I can keep continue on my journey towards better health for many years to come!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
