My Basil Plant Update- Early July 2025
It’s been a while since I talked about the plants I’m growing in my house. I did mention I have a tomato plant that grew tomatoes in a previous post, but I want to talk about them in more detail. So, here we are!
Right now I have four plants. They are a tomato plant, a basil plant, a amaryllis, and a cactus. Right now they are all alive, but my basil plant is not doing so well. Since I’m worried about my basil plant, I decided to talk about it first.
I purchased a new basil plant to replace my failed bail plant. The plants I attempted to grow earlier this year is from a basil growing kit I purchased earlier this year. I talked about them in previous posts here and here. I didn’t think the plants would be able to survive very long, and I was right. So, I purchased a basil plant from Walmart.
It did well for a while, but it started to struggle a week or so after I brought it home. I know what happened to it, but I couldn’t help it. The problems it had came directly from the type of plants it was displayed for sale next to. I didn’t know that basil plants shouldn’t be kept next to spearmint or peppermint plants, but the basil plants were next to the mint plants at the Walmart I purchased it from. Even though this impacted the plant, I decided to do what I can to keep it alive until it finally dies.
Well, I think it has finally begun to die. Again, there isn’t anything I can do except enjoy it for as long as it is here.
To be honest, I’m frustrated by how my history with growing basil plants is going. I still want to try again, but I don’t know if I can find a plant for sale or if I need to wait until next year to get another plant.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
