My New Mixer Problems and Buying Another New Mixer
Last year, I talked about purchasing a new mixer. I did and, after almost a year of use, it broke. What happened is that I used it to make too many heavy doughs for bread, going over the mixer’s capabilities. So, I needed to get a new one.
The saddest and most frustrating part of this whole ordeal was that my mixer broke on Christmas Eve day. I had plans to make food for people that would be gifting my relative food. Sadly, that didn’t work out because the mixer went down. So, I had to go without a mixer for many weeks before a new one was shipped.
Originally I planned on purchasing a mixer that was larger, had a stronger engine, and was created for home use, but then I found one on Amazon that was made for commercial kitchens. I didn’t debate about which mixer to get because I wanted the mixer for home use. Although the commercial grade mixer would be stronger and more durable, it was also was ridiculously expensive. Yet, after talking it over with my relative, who would be paying for the mixer, it was decided to get the commercial grade one.
Since receiving it in the mail in late January, I have used it to make chocolate chip cookies, potato rolls, and cinnamon rolls, which was the last recipe I was able to follow the whole way through before the mixer died. It works really well and mixed the cinnamon roll dough better than my old mixer did.
Although I like my new mixer and how well it works on thick and stiff doughs, I feel really conflicted about the price. It’s really high, yet the mixer mixes much like my old Kitchenaid stand mixer that was bought in the 1990’s. It is so smooth and easy to use. This new mixer is also a similar if not the same exact hight and width as my old Kitchenaid, allowing me to use the same mixer covering as I did for my old mixer. Still, the price scares me, which is why I decided not to talk about what brand it is and how much it costs. Even though I like it, I feel really snickered by the durability of my old mixer and how long it lasted. So, I’m going to hold off talking about it in detail until I own it for a longer period of time.
