Trying to Grow Garlic… Again

Since I was a girl, I wanted to grow plants. It didn’t matter if it was flowers, vegetables, or a tree, I wanted to grow plants. I didn’t have the opportunity to grow anything as a child, but as an adult I have tried to grow different plants multiple times. So far the only ones that have survived are an amaryllis bulb I inherited from a relative and a cactus.

Earlier this year, I decided to try to grow garlic. I use garlic a lot in my cooking so I thought it would be something enjoyable to grow. I tried it twice this year. Both times all the garlic I planted failed. After some thought, and a bit of research, I decided to try growing garlic for the third time this year.

Here are all the garlic I planted in a planter…

As you can tell, they are doing well. Yet, they are all kind of crowded. They’re fine for now but I plan on replanting them once the garlic gets bigger.

Kind of like this little garlic that I planted in it’s own planter…

I’m pretty sure there are more experienced garlic growers may have comments (And probably critiques) about how I planted and growing them, but so far things are doing well. The shoots are longer since I took these photographs and are still growing. They are doing much better than my second try. My first try didn’t result in any shoots. The second try had shoots and lived for a month or so, but they died after a while. This time, the garlic cloves are doing much better than the second try.

I am still learning how to grow them. If these garlic fail, I plan on trying again until I finally figure out what I did wrong and can successfully grow them!

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
