5 Reasons I Love (and 5 Reasons Why I Hate) This Month in Arizona- May

It’s May! Another month means so many great things will happen, but also there are some not so great things as well. As a resident in Arizona, there are both good things and bad things about this month. Since the weather is shifting completely to summer heat, it’s hard to see positive things about the month of May. Yet, there are still things I enjoy about it.

The reasons why I love this month in Arizona are…

  1. It’s the end of the school year! Kids are out of school and high school and college graduations are happening.
  2. There is still the possibility of cool nights when a hoodie is needed.
  3. Days are longer and feels so nice.
  4. Saguaro cacti are blooming as well as other desert plants.
  5. Pools are opening as well as water parks.

And the five reasons why I hate this month in Arizona are…

  1. The heat. (This is the month when temperatures normally reach over 110 degrees for the first time in the year)
  2. Kids are out of school. (Places are busier because families want to go out and have fun together)
  3. This is the month when Palo Verde and Mesquite trees are in bloom, which means allergies are a problem.
  4. The longer the days get, the longer the heat lasts.
  5. It’s time to prep vehicles for the summer heat.
