A Few Foods I Want to Learn How to Baking From Scratch (And Why)
My attempts at baking homemade bread and cookies have been a great success! I still don’t feel like I mastered the recipes, but I am still excited about how they turn out. Now that I feel optimistic about my baking skills, I decided to make a list of foods I want to learn how to bake. In true-to-myself fashion, the list is long. Very long.
Even though the list is long, there are certain recipes I want to learn how to make more than others. This week, I will be attempting to make more foods to celebrate Halloween and my birthday next week. I narrowed down the food to five to focus my attention on, as well as write on this list. At least one of the foods on this list will be made this week. If something stops me from working on it, I will work on it next week.
Cinnamon Rolls
I love cinnamon rolls, but I haven’t eaten one I like that has been completely made from scratch. For many years, creating them seemed really intimidating. Recently, I found a recipe that I know I can make. It may not be perfect, but as long as my attempt tastes good, I will keep trying to make the recipe until I master it.
Chocolate Cake
This year, I decided to go out of my birthday comfort zone and make myself a cake I never make for my own birthday: Chocolate cake. Growing up, I used to think chocolate was good, but I preferred pies and cheese cakes over chocolate cakes. As I got older, I began to love the taste of chocolate ganash frosting on a white birthday cake. This year, I want an actual chocolate cake. My plan is to make the cake, warm the slices in the microwave, then eat the slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I don’t know if I will be able to accomplish my dream birthday cake this year, but I hope so! The idea of the cake and how it will taste with ice cream makes me want to try it.
Blueberry Muffins
I have an old blueberry muffins recipe that I used to use, but I never liked the taste of the muffins very much. This started my search for a new muffin recipe that actually tastes good. I think I have found one, but I need to double check the recipe before trying. (I don’t think I have enough blueberries to make it!)
Ciabatta
I love ciabatta bread, especially a cheese and jalapeño variation I discovered at a local grocery store. It was my favorite sick bread (The cheese and jalapeño one) because the spices always helped me feel better. Recently, I discovered I have allergies to one of the ingredients in the bread. I haven’t eaten the bread ever since. I never believed I could cook it myself, so I didn’t think I could eat it again. That was until I discovered a recipe for it in one of my recipe books!
The making the bread looks complicated, but the recipe is really easy to follow and doesn’t look like it is as difficult as I originally thought it would be. I plan on trying to make the bread the way the recipe calls for before I attempt the cheese and jalapeño version.
Garlic Bread
I love to eat garlic bread with my spaghetti, but I normally use toasted while bread with granulated garlic. Instead of using white bread, I want to make garlic bread from scratch. I found a recipe that I want to try in a cook book for making well known restaurants’ food at home. The recipe makes garlic bread similar to ones at Olive Garden. I don’t normally like Olive Garden’s food, but the recipe to make similar garlic bread looks really good!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
