Kate Spade New York: All In Good Taste Book Review

While during a recent clean out and organization of my things, I came across some books I wanted to write review posts for. One of those books is All In Good Taste by Kate Spade New York.

The book, which was published in 2015, is by the fashion and lifestyle brand, Kate Spade New York. I’m a fan of Kate Spade New York and really love shopping the brand. At the time I purchased this book, I wanted to own some of the books by Kate Spade New York. I decided to pick All In Good Taste first because it is about the do’s and don’ts of entertaining.

Throughout the book there are illustrations that are very much in the style of Kate Spade New York. For an example, he end pages look like this..

Here is the title page with an illustration of how to set a table for a formal dinner…

The table of contents has Kate Spade New York’s signature polka dots…

The book is divided into four chapters. (Or are they called sections?) This is what the Entertaining title page looks like…

The rest of the chapters/section title pages look very similar to it.

Inside each section of the book are ideas and rules for holding a get together that is in good taste. (Thus the name of the book) Unlike other books that deal with entertaining, this book presents the topics in a different, more whimsical way.

For an example, the pages that talk about how to write notes for a hostess includes samples of the notes… presented as actual hand written notes…

The sample invitations are presented the same way, with sample invitations on the pages…

The section that talks about flowers for an event has Kate Spade New York style illustrations…

And there are pages dedicated to quotes to inspire the reader while planning their own event…

There are also pages dedicated to writing event and party ideas, what they do and do not, favorite recipes, and more…

Overall, I really like this book. Although it is a book dedicated to entertaining, parties, and other events, it is a really fun book to read. The information is very useful and helpful, but the way it is presented is what makes me enjoy this book. Kate Spade New York is a brand known for their way of taking something formal and giving it a fun, whimsical spin to it. This book fits the brand and it’s idea of what parties are.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a coffee table book that showcases the Kate Spade New York brand, yet it contains useful information. If you are looking for a book that explains how to hold a party or event, etiquette, and anything else to know about the topic, but does it in a more formal way, this is not the book for you. Instead, I would suggest other books. (Such as the most recent version of Emily Post) Yet, if you are a Kate Spade New York fan and/or wants ideas to hold your own event in the style of Kate Spade New York, then this book is perfect for you.
