My Favorite Events for Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary

Today is the start of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary! I am really happy to see Disney is doing special things for the platinum anniversary of Disneyland. (Also known as the Disneyland Resort)

Although I have no plans for a vacation to Disneyland this year, I still try to keep up to date with what is going on in the park. This way whenever I do go on vacation to Disneyland, I will know what has changed and what hasn’t. For the 70th Anniversary, there are events planned from May 16, 2025 through 2026. This allows for a longer window of time to visit the park and enjoy the special anniversary events.

After doing some research about the anniversary events, there are a few anniversary events that caught my eye. Since they start today, I wanted to talk about my favorite events in a post. I got the information about the events from Disneyland’s official webpage for the 70th anniversary and from Disney Parks Blog’s Complete Guide to the 70th Anniversary.

Decorations

Disneyland is known for it’s decorations for special occasions. The 70th Anniversary is no exception. The castle will be decorated for the event with other decorations throughout the park. There will also be decorations throughout California Adventure as well!

Paint the Night Parade

I always loved seeing Disneyland’s original light parade, the Main Street Electric Light Parade. In previous years, the light parade has returned for special events. For the 70th anniversary, the light parade will be the Paint the Night Parade. Although I’m disappointed the original light parade will not be returning, I’m happy there will be light parade returning to the park!

Food

For the 70th Anniversary, Disneyland will have new food options. They include Micky shaped waffles, 70th Celebration Macaroooon (A macaroon in the shape of the aliens from Toy Story), and 70th Celebration Cake. Even though I’m mentioning the deserts, there are many other food items available to try throughout Disneyland and California Adventure. There is a full list of all the new foods and where to find them on Disney Park’s blog here.

In addition to the new food items, there are also new dining experiences throughout Disneyland and California Adventure. They include the World of Color Dessert Party, Paint the Night Dining Package, Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade Dessert Party, Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace: Wondrous Journeys Dining Package, and Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet. There is a cost for each dining experience and a reservation required. Some of the dining experiences also include exclusive seating for parades.

A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Tour at Disneyland

Out of everything happening for the 70th Anniversary, my favorite is A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Tour at Disneyland. A Story of Celebration costs $120 USD per person (Not including tax). It is a 2 hour tour of the park that includes riding original park rides, lightning lane for certain attractions, and “keepsake memento”. Yet, out of all the things this tour offers, my favorite is sitting in a reserved area to view the Paint the Night parade.
