LoveShackFancy Perfume Library Discovery Set (Old Version) Review
Last year, I purchased the LoveShackFancy Perfume Library Discovery Set from Sephora. (There is also a LoveShackFancy Perfume Library Travel Spray Set, but I won’t be talking about it in this post.) I don’t own clothes from LoveShackFancy (Partly because they’re a premium brand and the price reflects it. Partly because none of the clothes come in a size that fit me.) so I’ve been looking at other products they sell, including from collaborations with other brands such as Pottery Barn.
One of the other products I was the most interested in trying last year was their perfume line. Even though I loved the way their perfume bottles looked, they were well over $120 USD per bottle! Since it was an investment, I debated how to proceed in purchasing the fragrance to try. That’s why I was so happy to find a sample set called Perfume Library!
At the time, the Perfume Library was on sale. This didn’t make much sense to me because of it’s popularity until I realized there is would be a new fourth fragrance coming out. Since the Perfume Library contained samples of the original three fragrances, it would be discontinued. Today, LoveShackFancy’s Perfume Library is now available, but with all four fragrances. Even though I own the old version of the Perfume Library, I decided to write a review about it and compare it to the new version of Perfume Library.
The old Perfume Library box looked like from the front…

This is what it looked like from the back…

The perfume fragrance notes are listed on the back of the box as well as the necessary information about the perfumes.
This is what the inside of the box looked like…

As you can probably tell, the box has a flap cover. The perfume names and their descriptions were printed on the flap.
Here is a close up of the flap so you can read the perfume names and descriptions…

And here is a closeup of the perfumes…

The perfumes come in sample sized atomizers. These atomizers hold 0.05 fluid ounces of fragrance. There are slots for each of the atomizers in box. This keeps them snug, safe, and secure. The part of the atomizer that hold the fragrance was made out of plastic.
When this version of the Perfume Library was still for sale on Sephora, the reviews were mixed. Although many liked how it cost less than one full sized bottle of perfume and allowed someone to try the perfumes without the high price, there many who didn’t like the set. The most common complaint about the set was the size of the fragrance bottles and the price.
When I purchased this set, it was on sale. Even though it was on sale, it still cost around $11 USD. If I were to purchase this set for full price, I would’ve paid around $18 USD or more. (I don’t remember what the full price was back then) When I received the set in the mail, I completely agree with the complaints about the size of the bottles and the price. Right now the new version of the Perfume Library with all four current fragrances costs $18 USD. All the bottles of fragrance hold the same amount of fragrance as mine, 0.05 fluid ounces.
To be honest, I like the idea. Each of the full sized bottles of LoveShackFancy perfumes cost $125 USD while the travel sized versions cost $32 USD. Creating a more cost friendly option for fans of the brand that can’t afford a travel or whole sized bottle of fragrance is a great idea. The problem is I don’t like how small the atomizers are and how much money the set costs. I thought I would receive larger atomizers for the set. Not as large as the travel size, but larger than the sample sized atomizers in the set.
In all, I like the idea, but not the size of the atomizers. Today, this set includes a fourth fragrance making this one no longer consistent with LoveShackFancy’s full perfume line. Still, the size of the atomizers is the same. I don’t want to dissuade LoveShackFancy fans from purchasing it because, like I said before, buying this set is cheaper than buying travel or the full sized bottles of each fragrance. Still, the price for a set with small atomizers bothers me. I’d say if you are really interested in the set, I suggest weighing your options for sampling the fragrances in a more affordable way. This includes traveling to a LoveShackFancy store, Sephora, or other store that carries the fragrance to see if samples of the fragrance are available to try in person. As for me, I don’t have that option so I relied on the set. Although I am conflicted on how to feel about the set, I am happy I purchased it. I don’t live anywhere near a LoveShackFancy boutique or a Sephora that carries the fragrances. For me, the only way to try the fragrances was by purchasing the Perfume Library. If this wasn’t the case, then I would’ve gone to a store in person and tried the fragrances in person instead of purchasing the Perfume Library.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
