Book Review: Grace Kelly The Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon by Megan Hess
I am a fan of Megan Hess’ art and her books. Even though I didn’t like all her books, there are many I really enjoy.
Two of the books I like a lot are The Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon series. The first book in the series is about Audrey Hepburn. The newest book in the series is about Grace Kelly.
The books are fun to read and are so beautiful. I wanted to share my thoughts about the books in book reviews. The first book I will be reviewing is about Grace Kelly. I will be reviewing the book about Audrey Hepburn in a future post.
This is what the front of the book looks like…

It is a pretty shade of pink and has gold metallic letting. It is a hard cover with the prettiest and feminine first pages…

The book is divided into three sections. They are The Woman, The Work, and The Legacy…

The book talks about Grace Kelly’s early life, her work and then later her legacy. Each section has beautiful illustrations by Megan emphasizing what is written about Grace and her life.

The book focuses on her childhood before moving onto her career as an actress in New York…

From there it move onto her work in movies and the awards she earned for them…

There is even a focus on her famous and noteworthy working relationship with Alfred Hitchcock…

As you already know, I love this book. It is a simple yet stylish introduction into Grace Kelly’s life and work. The illustrations are beautiful and enjoyable. I really enjoy reading it and browsing through it’s pages.
In fairness for this review, I wanted to mention something that would be a drawback for readers of this book: The writing. It is simple and to the point. I don’t mind it at all and enjoy reading it. Yet, if anyone is looking for a formal biography of Grace Kelly, then this is not the book for you. It doesn’t discuss many controversies about her or go into details about her life in New York and Hollywood. For this book, it doesn’t bother me that these are skipped over. The main focus of the book is to display Megan Hess’ art and give context of Grace Kelly’s life. Not serve as a biography.
I highly recommend this book to Megan Hess fans, fans of Grace Kelly, or anyone who is looking for a beautiful coffee table book. I also think it could be a great book to give to a teenager. Since it is a book with details about Grace Kelly’s life but is easy to read, it is great to give to a teenager who is interested in Grace Kelly and/or is a Megan Hess fan.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
