5 Favorite Summer Foods

Whenever the summer season approaches, I start to change my diet. I know I feel better if I eat certain foods during certain times of the year. During the winter, I eat heavier foods. During the summer, I eat lighter foods. During the spring and fall, I transition between the two types of food.

Since it is summer, I have officially switched to eating as much lighter foods I can. Despite the lighter nature of the foods, they are still nutritious and filling. They just contain more ingredients that sit better on my stomach!

This year, I decided to share five of my favorite summer foods. Not everything is practical for everyone’s diet, but I enjoy them a lot. I have more favorite summer foods I enjoy and want to talk about, but I’ll save them for a future post!

Ham, Cucumber, and Egg Salad Sandwich

I discovered this sandwich a few years ago on YouTube. The video I found this recipe in was not an actual recipe video, but a Japanese day in the life of a housewife video. After watching the preparation of the sandwich in the video, I decided to try it myself. I fell in love with it on the first bite and have made it every summer since. The ingredients to the sandwich, which is basically a ham sandwich with tomato, lettuce, cucumber, and egg salad, creates a very flavorful yet hearty sandwich that will sit better on the stomach on a hot day. I enjoy eating this sandwich whenever I need a hearty sandwich that won’t sit heavy on my stomach.

Hamburgers and Fries

Hamburgers and fries are a common staple of summertime foods especially for me. Even though these two foods are not as healthy as other foods I tend to eat, I still like to indulge during summertime and eat them. Even though I enjoy eating them at fast food restaurants, I really enjoy eating them at home. I like the way homemade fries and hamburgers are cooked better than fast food restaurants.

Chef Salad with Thousand Island Dressing

Salads during summertime is an important stable of my diet. The only problem is salads can get old pretty fast. This is why I enjoy eating them with different dressings. One of my favorite salad and dressing combination is chef salad with Thousand Island dressing. I prefer to make my own home made dressing, so it is even tastier than store bought dressing!

Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Just like hamburgers and fries, I also like to eat pulled pork sandwiches. Even though I enjoy them very much, I don’t get to eat them very often. Sadly, I don’t go many places where I can purchase a sandwich. This is why whenever I go somewhere one is available to purchase, I seriously consider purchasing one!

Grilled Chicken Salad with Vinaigrette

I like to eat chicken in general, so it is no surprise I like to eat grilled chicken salads with vinaigrettes. Sadly, I tend to have food allergies from purchased-from-the-store vinaigrettes, so I make my own. They are not difficult to make, but I prefer the flavor of my at-home vinaigrettes more than the store-bought ones.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
