Random Fashion New Roundup for May 2023

If you are a long time reader of this blog, then you’d probably know I don’t cover much news on here. This blog is not one that covers much news, if any at all, unless I think it is noteworthy on here. That being said, there are a handful of fashion news I wanted to talk about in posts.

Even though I wanted to write individual post about them all, I didn’t think it was worth the time to write separate posts for everything I learned. Instead, I decided to write a post dedicated to all the fashion news I found out about during the month of May. Everything in this post is not as new as other fashion news, or as important, but it is something that caught my ear and eye. So, I hope you enjoy reading my fashion news roundup!

The MET’s Karl Lagerfeld Exhibition is Now Open

The Metropolitan Museum of the Arts’ (Or MET) new exhibition about fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld is now open. Lagerfeld passed away in 2019 after a long and revered career in fashion. The exhibition, called Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, about is work and life opened on May 5, 2023 and will run till July 16, 2023. Included in the exhibition are pieces he designed for fashion houses Balmain, Fendi, Chloe, and Chanel as well as his own fashion label. On May 17, 2023, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) made an announcement that Fashion Nova has settled with them about misleading reviews about their products. Mugler x H & M Has Released

On May 11, 2023, Thierry Mugler’s fashion house’s new collaboration with H & M was released. The designs in the collection are 1980’s and 1990’s inspired, but are still very modern. According to what I’ve read, Mugler, who passed away in 2022, and his designs are quite popular right now, with celebrities wearing them and fashion lovers, specifically from Generation Z, buying them. Even though many of the designs have sold out, there are still a handful left. Look on H & M’s website to see what is currently available.

Target Now Has Storefronts

Target now has Storefronts! I don’t know when Storefronts launched, but I realized they are available in May. So, if you are like me and had not idea Target has Storefronts, or what the Storefronts are, it’s new to you too! Basically what Target’s Storefronts is a place for social media influencers to have their favorite products available to purchase in one location. From what I can see, it is similar to Amazon’s influencer program and Amazon storefronts for their affiliates program. So far I haven’t found a lot of information about it, but it is connected with Target Partners, their official affiliates program.

Dillard’s Has Store Exclusive Collaborations

Dillard’s has announced multiple store exclusive collaborations for over a year now (If I remember correctly) so this is not new. Still, if you haven’t checked out their store exclusive collaborations, I highly recommend it! Their collaborations are usually with social media personalities, content creators, and influencers, so the designs are different than the ones normally seen at Dillard’s. The products in the collaborations include clothing, accessories, home essentials, and home decor. The current collaborations (As of the publishing of this post) are as follows:

  • Gianni Bini x Jess Southern
  • Antonio Melani x Nat Note
  • Gianni Bini x Venita Aspen
  • Anna & Ava x KBStyled
  • Southern Living x Nellie Howard Ossi

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
