Givenchy Mini Le Rogue Lipstick Set Review

Last month, I purchased holiday themed lipstick gift sets from two luxury design houses. I was curious to see if I would like their products more than my normal lipsticks. The sets did cost more more money that I normally spend, but for me, it was worth it to buy the set instead of individual lipsticks at full price.

One of these gift sets is from Givenchy. The gift set included four lipsticks in two types of formulas in three different colors. Even though the set is no longer available to purchase, I wanted to talk about it in a post.

This is what the box the gift set came in…

I thought the box looked very pretty. The stars on the box are metallic and reflected light whenever the box was moved. Also, the G logos around the fashion house’s name are embossed.

On the other side of the box, the lipsticks formula names and the colors they come in are shown…

In order to tell the difference between the two formulas, the lipstick tubes are color coded. For the Le Rouge Sheer Velvet, the tube has red velvet on it. For the Le Rouge Interdit Intense Silk, the sides of the tubes are leather. This is consistent with the full sized versions of each lipstick formula.

On the top of the box, you can see the colors that come in the gift set better…

Lipstick color 37 is the color color available in both lipstick formulas in this gift set.

This is what the lipstick tubes look like outside of the box…

This is a close up of the Sheer Velvet mini tube…

I had problems photographing the tubes, which is why the velvet tube looks so dark. Unfortunately, the closeup photograph of the Intense Silk tube didn’t turn out at all. So, all I’ll slow you is the Sheer Velvet tube.

Here are closeups of the lipsticks outside the tubes. Just so you know, I also had problems with lighting the day I took these photographs. (Just blame it on sloppy photography work on my end)

This is Intense Silk color number 37…

Again, the photographs of the lipsticks are dark. Because of this, the photographs are not a true reflection of the color of the lipsticks.

This is Intense Silk color number 116…

This photograph is more true to the actual lipstick color.

And finally, this is Sheer Velvet color 17…

To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect when I opened the set. This is why I was surprised when all the the lipsticks came in a protective box that slips out of the actual box. The protective box did its job very well and was well designed to the point that it not only protected the lipstick tubes, but it was also easy to get them out of it. I was very happy to see Givenchy put so much thought into the packaging and protection of one of their most affordable makeup and beauty gift sets!

The lipsticks are really pretty. Despite my poor photographs, they are all various tones of red and burgundy colors. They are flattering for most, if not all, skin tones. Even though they are perfect for the holiday season, depending on what color you love the best and how you like to style your makeup, they could be worn year round.

The only major complaint I have about them is their scent. Like other luxury brands, there is a fragrance with these lipsticks. The fragrance is consistent with all lipsticks no matter the formula and is the same fragrance used in Givenchy’s full sized lipsticks. I personally don’t mind it, but for anyone more sensitive to fragrance will not. To me, the fragrance is a floral scent. Also, I find the scent very strong for a lipstick. Even though these are mini lipsticks, the scent of them shows how strong it is. Again, I don’t mind it, but I do need to take care when I apply these lipsticks. Especially whenever I am having a bad allergy day!

Overall, I feel the price I paid (Around $50- $60 USD without tax, shipping, or sale discounts) was a fair price for them. The quality of these mini lipsticks and the packaging them come in are amazing. It gives you a really good sense of what the full sized lipsticks will be like. I am happy I purchased them. I recommend anyone new to Givenchy to trying Givenchy’s lip stick gift sets before purchasing a full sized tube of their lipstick. It gives you a better idea of what you’ll be receiving when you purchase a full sized lipstick without feeling like you gambled your money on an expensive tube of lipstick!

Well, that’s all for now! Than you for reading!
