YSL Mini Rouge Pur Couture Satin Lipstick Trio Review

In December, I found two luxury brand lipstick gift sets I really liked at Sephora. After some thought, I decided to purchase them. The first set was a Givenchy mini lipstick set. The second is a YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) lipstick set. I already talked about the Givenchy lipstick set in a separate post. It can be read here.

For this post, I wanted to talk about the YSL lipstick set I purchased. It came with a full sized version of one of their lipsticks, two mini sized versions of a different lipstick, and a makeup pouch. Even thought the set is no longer available, I wanted to write a review about the set in order to give anyone looking to purchase a different YSL Beauty lipstick set an idea of how a set looks like.

This is what the outside of the box looks like…

On the top of the box, the kind of lipstick and colors included in the gift set is shown…

Inside the box is a gold makeup bag with the lipsticks inside of it. The makeup bag looks like this…

Like I already mentioned, the bag holds the three tubes of lipstick. The first tube is a mini version of Rouge Pur Couture in the color Number 1966 Rogue Libra…

As well as a mini version of Rogue Pur Couture in the color Number 01 Le Rogue…

In addition to the mini tubes of lipstick, the set also contains a full sized tube of Rogue Volupte Shine in the color Number 86 Mauve Curl…

Overall I really like the gift set. Since I purchased this gift set and the Givenchy gift set at the same time, I compare the two more. Even though there are many reasons I like the Givenchy gift set, there are other reasons why this YSL gift set is also worthy of notice.

The major selling points of this set are the makeup bag and full sized lipstick. The bag the gift set comes with is really nice quality and is a nice size for being free. The zipper on the bag is smooth and easy to slide back and forth. The bag itself isn’t a large size, but is a medium size. This makes it a great size of bag to use for travel. The outside of the bag is easy to clean with a wet towel while the lining inside of the bag is a normal lining fabric. Even though there isn’t much to say about the lining fabric, it is black. This makes makeup spills or accidents inside the bag easier to hide due to the lining’s darker color.

As for the full sized lipstick, I really like it a lot. The lipstick is actually a lipstick balm and is in a universal skin tone flattering shade of mauve. The tube is beautiful and is basically the kind of quality to expect whenever purchasing a tube of the Rouge Volupte Shine outside of a gift set.

The smaller lipsticks are also really nice quality. The tops of the lipstick tubes come on and off very easy. Both mini lipsticks are in universally skin tone flattering shades of red and dark red.

The only complaint I have about this set is the YSL lipsticks do have a scent. They are mild in comparison to the Givenchy gift set, but it could be an issue for anyone looking for a fragrance free lipstick. Both the Rouge Volupte Shine and Rogue Pur Couture have scents, but they are different depending on the lipstick formula.

I am very happy with this gift set. Not every gift set will be exactly like this one, but if you are interested in purchasing a YSL lipstick gift set, I recommend giving it a try. It is a great budget friendly option for anyone who wants to own multiple YSL lipsticks without needing to pay full price for all of them. The makeup bag my gift set came with also makes YSL’s budget friendly lipstick sets stand out more than other luxury brands do.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
