Movie Review- Royal Hearts (2018)
In March 2021, I wandered through Walmart’s movie and music section to see if there is anything new to buy and watch or listen to. It was before Easter, so there was many Easter themed movies available. Among them were a few movies from the Hallmark Channel. Some of them interested me, but the one that caught my eye the most was Royal Hearts.
I bought it and watched it last year, but after seeing it, I thought it would make a great Valentine’s Day movie. Because of this, I decided to post my review about the movie close to Valentine’s Day.
Royal Hearts is a Hallmark Channel romance movie staring James Brolin, Cindy Busby, and Andrew Cooper. The story is about Kelly (Cindy Busby), a college professor of literature at the University of Montana and a hopeless romantic who struggles finding a relationship that matches her dreams of romance. She is the daughter of rancher Hank (Josh Brolin) who is very annoyed with his daughter’s dedication to her work as a professor than working on the ranch, like she wanted to when she was a little girl. Their lived are thrown into chaos when Hank inherits land from a very distant relative. After traveling to the land, Hank discovers the land he inherited is actually the kingdom of Merania and he is the new king.
Although Hank is very hesitant to become the king, he decided to stay in order to prevent a neighboring country, Angosia, from claiming ownership of the country. When in the country, Kelly meets Alex (Andrew Cooper), a stable boy, and King Nikolas, (Lachlan Nieboer) the King of Angosia. She is romantically interested in both men.
I really liked the movie. It was cute and I enjoyed watching it. On the day I watched it, I was busy working on other things at the same time. Even though I didn’t completely focus on watching the movie, I was still able to keep up with what happened in it. For me, it’s the kind of movie I would like to play in the background while I work.
The movie is a combination of a fairy tale/rags-to-royal story and a rancher romance story. This makes it more unique than other romance stories, including other Hallmark Chanel movies, I watched or read. The script combines elements of fairy tale and rags to royal stories, such as The Princess Diaries and The Prince and Me, and cowboy and rancher romance stories in a way that makes it very enjoyable and unique. This is why I decided to watch the movie in the first place.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes a fairy tale or royal romance story and enjoys cowboy romance stories as well. I also recommend this movie to anyone who wants to watch a more unique romance movie.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
