Hot Tools 1 Inch Flat Iron Review

It’s been a while since I purchased my Hot Tools one inch flat iron. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to use it many times. Now that I’ve used it, I wanted to write a review about the flat iron. Since I already took photographs of the flat iron for my unboxing post, I will be reusing the photographs from that post in this one. You can read the original unboxing post here.

As a reminder, this is what my flat iron looks like…

It is hot pink (It matches two of my other Hot Tools hair appliances) and has one inch titanium iron plates. I like the size of the iron plates. It’s great for use on bangs (Which is what I usually use a flat iron for) but it can easy create curls in my hair whenever I want to use it instead of a curling iron. I know that if I had a larger sized flat iron, I would have trouble controlling it and making the right size curls and making my bangs straight with a natural looking curl to the edge.

The flat iron also has an LCD temperature display…

And the iron can heat up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. I usually don’t set the temperature above 310 degrees because this flat iron works well on my hair (Which is thin and has stress damage) at a lower temperature. The iron also heats very quickly and I don’t normally need to wait more than two minutes for it to heat up completely. The speed the iron heats up depends on how hot the temperature, as a higher temperature setting will take more time to make the iron to warm up. Despite this, it heats up fast. While the iron is heated up to the right temperature, the LCD screen will change colors to indicate it’s ready to be used.

Even though there are many great aspects about this flat iron, my favorite, and the reason why I purchased it in the first place, is the controls on the side of the iron…

The controls for the iron are simple. Starting from left to right, there is a up switch to make the temperature go higher, a down switch to make the temperature go lower, and an on/off switch.

I love flat irons that have controls that are not located near the iron plate section of the iron. I always feel afraid to use flat irons whenever the controls are near the plates because whenever the plates are hot, turning off the iron can cause someone to burn their fingers. This is why I’m so happy to own my Hot Tools flat iron.

There is a down side to having buttons on the side of the flat iron like this iron. Whenever you use it, you need to avoid placing your hands on the buttons. Not being mindful of the placement of the buttons will cause the hand to accidentally push the buttons, changing the temperature and even potentially turning the iron off. I didn’t have a problem with the position of the buttons, but it is worth noting.

I really love this flat iron and highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality flat iron with controls on the side of the iron.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
