On April 20th, I went to Sephora because they had their VIB sale. I normally don’t shop during the VIB sale (Mostly because I’m too busy around the time the sale is going on), but after browsing the store located inside my local JcPenny’s, I found a few things I wanted and bought them during the sale.
I originally thought about buying make up that I wanted to try (Mostly eye brow pencils because the Soap and Glory Archer eye brown crayon doesn’t come in a color dark enough to match my eye brows) but after spending half an hour in the store, I walked out with a lot of fragrances… and one make up product.
The one make up product I bought was Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea eye shadow palette…
Ever since Rimmel changed their eye shadow palettes and limited the colors they sold, I’ve been on the hunt for a good eye shadow palette in mostly purple and lavender colors. I thought I found a good one at Target a few months ago, but the eye shadow itself was extremely poor and didn’t hold up during wear nearly as well as the Rimmel palettes used to. After trying the drug store products, I decided to try something from Sephora.
The Rainforest of the Sea palette has similar colors to what I want (Purples, lavenders, maybe a mauve) but the quality of the eye shadow is so much better than anything I’ve ever tried, including the old Rimmel palettes. I wanted to try eye shadows from other brands, but this was all the Sephora I went to had in stock for the purple/lavender eye shadows, so it was the only eye shadow I bought.
After picking up the Rainforest of the Sea palette, I began to look at fragrances. Since they were part of the sale, I wanted to pick some up. Unfortunately, my local Sephora didn’t carry the fragrances that I really wanted, like Giorgio Armani’s Because it’s You, Si, and Dior’s Miss Dior Eau do Tolette. Since I couldn’t buy my favorites, I decided to look for a new fragrance I could buy.
After smelling and smelling, I settled for a bottle of Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium Nuit Blanche…
And a variety of roller ball/travel size fragrances…
When I browsed Sephora before the VIB sale, I wanted to buy Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium, but when I was shopping during the sale, I became confused by the bottle’s packaging. The store had Black Opium, but it also had Black Opium Nuit Blanche, which I believed I never tried. After finding the travel size fragrances of both Black Opium and Black Opium Nuit Blanche, I realized the fragrance I liked was actually Black Opium Nuit Blanche, not Black Opium. After some research online, I discovered both sample bottles look similar and the Nuit Blanche bottle does not say “Nuit Blanche”. Instead, it only says “Black Opium”. Even though the bottle’s names confused me, I made sure to buy the box that says “Black Opium Nuit Blanche”, the fragrance that I wanted.
All the travel size fragrances are fragrances I wasn’t convinced I wanted the whole bottle of. I really liked Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gioia eau de parfume, but I also liked Sky and Air as well. Since I didn’t know which one I liked the best, I decided to buy the roller ball version of Acqua di Gioia and see how I like it.
While looking at the travel size fragrances, I found Kat Von D’s Saint. I thought it smelled really nice, but, like the Acqua di Gioia, I was unsure if I’d like it enough to buy a whole bottle. So, I bought the roller ball fragrance instead.
The last travel size fragrance I bought is Yves Saint Laurent’s Mon Paris. Even though I originally wanted to buy multiple bottles of my favorite fragrances, I decided to only buy one bottle of a new fragrance to try. At the Sephora, they had travel size sprays for Mon Paris, Black Opium, and Black Opium Nuit Blanche. Even though I decided to buy a bottle of Black Opium Nuit Blanche, Mon Paris was a close second. Since I liked Mon Paris so much, I decided to buy a travel size spray until I buy a larger bottle.
Well, that’s all I have to talk about today! I hope to keep everyone updated on my opinions on all my new fragrances and eye shadow palette.
