Book Review: 12 Days of Christmas, A Little Golden Book Classic

It is Christmas Eve, which is a perfect time for families with children to read Christmas themed bedtime stories. Although there are plenty of books about Santa Claus, including The Night Before Christmas, and the birth of Jesus, I wanted to review a book for Blogmas 2025 that didn’t focus on them.

Instead, I decided to focus on a book about a tradition that was honored centuries ago: The Twelve Days of Christmas. Although the celebration is still honored by many, many just know it by the song, The Twelve Days of Christmas. Last year, I found a reprinting of A Little Golden Book that tells the story of the song with illustrations. Since December 24th is the night when the Twelve Days of Christmas begins, I thought it would be a perfect time to review this book.

Young Queens Collection: The Curious Crown by Megan Hess Book Review

Every year, I hear about all the Christmas themed books that people need to read. I personally don’t like to read Christmas themed novels near Christmas, but I love to read Christmas themed children’s book! I think it is a nostalgic thing, but as an adult and a fan of illustrations, I always love to look at the illustrations.

One of my favorite illustrators that are still publishing new books is Megan Hess. This year, she published another Christmas themed children’s book, bringing her total number of Christmas themed books to three. I already published a review post about the first book (You can read it here) but not for the second book. Since it is Blogmas, I decided to write a review post about Megan Hess’ second Christmas themed book, Young Queens Collection: The Curious Crown.

Book Review: Young Queens Collection: The Velvet Messenger by Megan Hess

It’s October 1st, which means Halloween is this month!

I own a few Halloween themed children’s books, but the one I picked to review this month is The Velvet Messenger by Megan Hess. It is a part of the Young Queens Collection book series. I like to occasionally collect Megan Hess’ books (I’ve slowed down my collecting a lot in the past few years) because I like her artwork. To me, The Velvet Messenger’s plot and illustrations reminds me of Halloween, or of a spooky story, which is why I decided to save my review for October!

Walt Disney’s Santa’s Toy Shop: A Little Golden Book New Printing Review

Holidays are my favorite time of the year to read children’s books. When I was a child, I loved reading and hearing stories read to me during Christmas time. Today, I still like to read those same books for nostalgic reasons. One of my favorite books from childhood is A Little Golden Book called Walt Disney’s Santa’s Toy Shop.

Going through my old things, I found an old version of Santa’s Toy Shop in my things. Since it is old, and probably from the 1980’s or earlier, I decided to buy a newer version of the book. My plan is to use the new print of the book without worrying about damaging the older book.

Since I have a new version of the book, I wanted to write a review about this book for this year’s Blogmas!

Book Review- Caviar: The Hollywood Star by Megan Hess

Author and artist Megan Hess has wrote many books over her career, but my favorite books has become her children’s books. Even though I don’t own every book she has wrote or illustrated, I really love the books I own. One of the newest additions to my collection is Caviar: The Hollywood Star.

The book was released in April 2023, but after owning and reading it for over a year, I decided to write a review about it. It is a part of the world of Claris, Megan’s very popular and fashionable mouse and star of most of her children’s books.

Book Review: Claris The Chicest Mouse in Paris: Holiday Heist by Megan Hess

Near the end of 2021, I found one of Megan Hess’ Clairs books went on sale on Amazon. It was reduced enough that I felt comfortable purchasing it. The book, called Claris, The Chicest Mouse in Paris Holiday Heist, is a Christmas book about an adventure Clair’s goes on during the holiday season in New York City. It looked super cute and, even though I don’t have children, I really enjoy owning children’s books with beautiful illustrations. Even though I purchased the book in the beginning of the year, I wanted to wait until Blogmas to publish a review post about it. Book Review: Claris: Fashion Show Fiasco by Megan Hess

Megan Hess has released many books over the years focused on fashion that features her illustrations. They started out as coffee table books, but over the years Megan has begun to release a series of children’s book written and illustrated by her. The best known children books by Megan are the Claris book series. The formal name of the series is Claris: The Chicest Mouse in Paris. It is about the adventures of Claris, a mouse that lives in Paris with a cat named Monsieur and a human family with a daughter called “The Brat” for obvious reasons.

I wanted to write a review about the books for a while, but I hesitated. The reason is because I don’t own all the books in the series. Due to reasons I will not go into, I’ve been acquiring as many books in the Claris series out of order. Because of this, I will be reviewing the books out of order. The first book I will be reviewing in the Claris series is the second book: Fashion Show Fiasco.
