Beauty Product Shopping, Higher Prices, and Adjusting to Accommodate for My Allergies

Sephora’s Savings Event is happening right now and, after holding back from shopping for new makeup and other beauty related things, I decided to shop at Sephora. Since November is my birthday month, it is also the time for me to collect my gifts from Sephora.

In order to prep for the sale, I decided to search for my old favorite products and to see if there was anything new I would like to buy. After my search, I’ve been feeling really frustrated by the selection of products and the prices of them.

I’ve mentioned before that I have allergies and skin sensitivities. Since I need to be careful what beauty products I can use, I count on sales like Sephora’s to buy products I am seriously interested in while saving money. This year, after years of trial and error, I know what type of ingredients to look out for and what beauty products to avoid.

While browsing Sephora, I’m really disappointed by the gifts sets my favorite brands have been putting out. Although there are some that catch my eye, there are so many gift set with products that I’m either sensitive or allergic to. In previous years, I was able to find gift sets with products that I can’t use. This year, many, if not most depending on the brand, have products I can’t use.

For an example, I was interested in Dior’s Pink Glow Ritual set. It comes with a tube of Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm, a tube Dior Addict Lip Maximizer, and a makeup bag. I can use the Glow Balm, but not the Lip Maximizer. Since there are only two products in the gift set and I can’t use one of them, I think it is pointless to buy myself the set. Especially since it costs $84 USD without the sale discount. Sephora and Dior are not the only ones. I also see this with other brands and other stores as well.

Right now, things are expensive. The type of products I am shopping for are always going to be higher priced, but prices are so high I don’t feel comfortable shopping for them anymore. I have tried to find less costly products, but I haven’t been very successful. So, I’m stuck purchasing the pricy beauty products.

The thing is that, because of everyone’s worries about the economy, I feel conflicted about purchasing them. Like many people, I want to get quality for my money. This why I purchase the higher priced beauty products. Yet, like many people, I want quality for the price. If the ingredients change (Which I have noticed some brands have done) yet the price increases, I not only paid higher price for a product that I expect to contain the same ingredients, but I am also running the risk of exposing myself to my allergies.

This is why I’m trying to search for my old favorite beauty products to read the ingredients list. This way I can decide if a product will cause an allergic reaction before I buy it.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
