5 Favorite Things I Cook from Scratch to Give as Gifts for Valentine’s Day
February 14, 2025
Valentine’s Day is the time of the year to give someone a gift to show how much you love them. Making something to give is a great way to show how much you love someone. One of my favorite things to create as a Valentine’s Day gift is to cook something for someone!
Although I don’t enjoy cooking and baking all the time, it is my favorite way to create a gift someone will enjoy. Sometimes I can’t do this, but overall anything I create is well received. Since I am currently in the process of baking food for gifts, I wanted to list my top five things I cook (and bake) to give as gifts for Valentine’s Day.
- Chocolate Chip Cookies: I like to make these when I have little time and need to make something in a hurry. They are popular because I make them from scratch, which, like anything made from scratch, tastes better. All I need to do is make the dough, bake the cookies, let them cool, and then prep them to be given as gifts.
- Sugar Cookies: Sugar cookies are more difficult to make due to the time it takes to frost the cookies. Yet, they are still a popular way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. There are many recipes on how to make them, but the one I use is easy. They can also be decorate by just spreading buttercream on the top or can be decorated more fanciful with royal icing.
- Brownies: Chocolate is a popular gift to give this time of the year, which is why I like to make brownies as gifts. Brownies are the easiest chocolate food for me to make. The recipe I currently use calls for cocoa and dark cocoa powders, which I really love. Many milk chocolate bars that can be melted and mixed into a brownie batter contain my food allergens. This is why I love my current recpie so much.
- Chocolate Bars: Since I cannot eat most pre made milk chocolate bars due to food allergies, I like to make my own milk chocolate bars. I don’t do it often because I find is troublesome, but I usually do it when I need a milk chocolate yet don’t have my favorite chocolate chips on hand. Although I find it troublesome, it isn’t really difficult to do. It does take time to freeze after making and absolutely must be refrigerated. (Mine contain actual milk and butter, which is why it needs to be refrigerated.)
- Cinnamon Rolls: Out of all the things I listed, the recipe I use to make cinnamon rolls is the most complicated and time consuming to make. My recipe makes the rolls completely from scratch and requires three different rises, but the result is worth it! Since making cinnamon rolls takes so much time, I don’t normally give these away unless it is to someone I know will really appreciate them.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
