Books I Read in May 2024 (And What I Think of Them)
May was both a great and not so great month. Among the setbacks and problems, I had quite a bit of time to sit down and read. This was a great thing because I haven’t had so much time and/or the mindset to read, in such a long time!
I was able to read more than five books in May. After some consideration, I decided to talk about four of them in a post. I didn’t finish reading all the books mentioned in this post, but I did read them and have opinions about them.
The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White
This is the second time I read this book. I wanted to read more books inspired by the legends of King Arthur this year. I have all three books in the series, so I decided to reread them. Since this was a second read, I didn’t feel that ambitious to read it all the way through. Instead, I read a few chapters and moved on. I plan on continuing to read it in June.
The Ballad of Darcy & Russell by Morgan Matson
This book was released in May 2024 and I was able to read it in less than four days. (It helped I wasn’t busy those four days!) It is about Darcy, who believes in love at first sight and is going to college soon, and Russell. The two fall in love after meeting at a bus stop after a music festival. It does contain the F word and descriptions eluding to sex, which is why it is different than other Morgan Matson books I’ve read.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Roads Lead to Doom!
This is a manga I picked up recently to read. It has a cute story and I enjoyed reading it so far. It is about a girl who wakes up after being reincarnated into a romance video game. Her character is a villainess and, despite everything she does or doesn’t do, it seems like she will always end up with a bad ending. I liked it more than other mangas with a similar plot.
The Boys of Benjamin Boulevard by Samantha Robinson
This is another book I already read. It is a short book (Around 200 pages long) and it was easier to read than other books I’ve read. Yet, this book makes up for how short and easy to read by being deeply moving and dramatic. It is a clean young adult romance, which is why I bought it in the first place. I just forgot how hard it is to read when you’re going through moments in life when everything is in chaos and unsure!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
