Collective Book Haul- August 2023

In August, with the seasons changing, I decided it was time to go book shopping again. Even though I had the best intentions to keep my book buying to a minimum, I still found many books to buy. This time, I purchased more than I thought I would. Way more.

By the end of the month, I had purchased ten new books! Most of the books had been ones I’ve been looking at for years, but never purchased. Others were newly published yet I seriously believed I would enjoy. Out of all the book hauls I wrote posts about, I am the most happiest with this one! All the books are ones I’m looking forward to reading, some of them again! I am happy to own all these books!

The first book in this haul is Murder, She Wrote: Debonair in Death by Jessica Fletcher and Terrie Farley Moran…

I have been on a Murder, She Wrote watching binge for months now. I missed watching the show, so I started to watch it again. And I haven’t stopped. I already knew there is a Murder, She Wrote book series (They are inspired by the TV series) but I didn’t know there was a new one with Michael Haggerty! Michael Haggerty is a MI-6 British Intelligence agent and is one of my friend’s favorite characters from the series. Debonair in Death was published in 2021, but the story is new to us. I bought myself a copy of the book to read and enjoy without the hassle of borrowing my friend’s book.

The next book in this haul is Circle of Death: The Shadow Thriller by James Patterson and Brian Sitts….

I need to admit this: I used to love listening to The Shadow radio play. I didn’t like all the plays, and I really don’t like the movie adaptation, but I did like the ones available to purchase on cassette tape at Cracker Barrels. When I saw a book written by James Patterson and Brian Sitts inspired by the plays was published, I happily purchased it. This year, I heard there would be a second book in the series published. I forgot to search for it until August. When I was able to locate it, I purchased a copy of it.

The next book in this haul is The Christmas Cookie House by Jennifer Griffith…

The Christmas Cookie House is the first of two books that I purchased by Jennifer Griffith. They are from the same Christmas themed romance series. I liked the premise of the books, so I purchased the first two books in the series.

The next book in this haul is The Sleigh Bells Chalet by Jennifer Griffith…

The Sleigh Bells Chalet is the second book in the series I purchased.

The next book in this haul is Chronicles of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery…

I already own the complete box set of L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables novels, yet it doesn’t include all the other books that take place in the same world as the Anne books. I decided to track down all the other books and slowly purchase them. Chronicles of Avonlea is one of the books I’ve been missing. I found it for sale on Amazon, so I purchased a copy to add to my collection.

The next book in this haul is The Road to Yesterday by L.M. Montgomery…

Another book I don’t own that is set in the Anne of Green Gables world is The Road to Yesterday. I’m not sure if there are any other books I need to add to my collection, but I’m happy to own the books in this haul!

The next three books are by L.M. Montgomery. They are Emily of New Moon, Emily’s Quest, and Emily Climbs…

I remember reading the Emily of New Moon series, (Officially known as the Emily Starr Series) but I borrowed the books from a relative. Even though I liked Anne of Green Gables series more, I wanted to own the Emily series as well. Since I was shopping for L.M. Montgomery books, I decided to find the Emily of New Moon books as well. I found them available with both a new cover art and the old cover art on them. I wanted the old cover art. I own old cover art books, so I wanted my Emily books to fit in. I found all three books in the series and am very happy to add them to my collection!

The last book in this haul is The Anne of Green Gables Devotional by Rachel Dodge…

I intended this book to be a gift for a friend who loves Anne of Green Gables. After leafing through it, I decided to keep a copy of the book and buy another for her. The book is a devotional for Christian fans of Anne of Green Gables.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
