February 2023 Book Haul

In February, I purchased several new books to add to my library. Even though I am happy with the books I purchased, I debated if I should purchase as many as I did. I have many books I need to start reading but haven’t. Now that it is March, I decided to take a break from purchasing books. This way, I will have time to read these books and enjoy them!

Even though I don’t want to purchase any new books this month, I wanted to write a haul post about five of the books I purchased in February. I purchased them from different places, but I am happy to have them in my collection.

The first book in the haul is Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare…

Chain of Thorns is the last book in The Last Hours series of book. I already own the first two books and like them. I’m very happy to own the last book. It is a large book (Over 600 pages long) but I still look forward to reading it. Even if it takes me a while to finish it!

The next book is The Davenports by Krystal Marquis…

The Davenports is a young adult book that caught my eye because of its premise. The plot is about a well to do family with four daughters. The book is set in 1910 and, unlike other books about well to do families at that time, The Davenports are African American. The book promises to be a “swoon worthy” read about how the four daughters find love in the Edwardian Era in the United States. I love the idea for the book and really look forward to reading it!

The next book is The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna…

I heard a lot of great things about this book last year. Even though I wanted to buy it, I decided to buy other books instead. I didn’t get around to buying it until last month. I am very excited to own it, but I’m not sure when I’ll read it. Since it is a book about witches, I thought about waiting until the fall to read it. Now that I own it, I want to read it now. When I read it is not a huge deal to me, but I do wonder if I would enjoy it more if I waited to read it.

The last book in this haul is Kiki’s Delivery Service by Eiko Kadono…

I really love the Studio Gibli film, but I really wanted to own and read the book that inspired the movie. This version of the book, which was published in 2021, is a new translation of the book. I was curious to see what the new translation is like, so I purchased this version of the book.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
