It’s almost the end of 2022. Amount the many things that happen this time of the year, one of the most annoying is my self loathing for not getting enough done by the end of the year. It is one of my worst traits and is something I always strive to improve not matter what time of they year it is. It seems to be especially worst near year’s end, probably because of amount of publicly acknowledgment of people’s regrets for the year.
Even though I can go on and on in a blog post about all the things I didn’t do throughout the year, I like to be optimistic. Especially online. So, instead I will be talking about one of the less important things I didn’t do this year: Read all books I wanted to read!
There are various reasons why I didn’t get around to reading these books, but it mostly has to do with lack of time. Even though I’m sure there will be many books in 2023 I would like to read, these books are on the top of my to-read list.
Run Rose Run by James Patterson and Dolly Parton
When I heard about Run Rose Run, I was very excited. It is written by both James Patterson and Dolly Parton?! Yes please! I happy purchased the book at my closest Walmart… then didn’t read it. This book is probably going to be one of the first books I plan on reading in 2023.
My Life as an Album Series
I bought the whole entire My Life as an Album book series earlier this year. The premise of the books intrigued me. Each book in the series is inspired by a song. There are five books in the series, including a holiday themed book. Initially, I was really excited to own the books. Then life happened and I had to set them aside. Now that it is the end of the year, I still have not read even one of the books! In 2023, I plan on starting to read the books.
The Shadow by James Patterson and Brian Sitts
I wanted to read The Shadow this year, but I didn’t have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book until the end of the year. I used to listen to recordings of The Shadow radio play on cassette tape (Yes, I am that old) growing up. I used loved the stories, even if I listened to only the most “kid friendly” of them! I have high expectations for this book.
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
Throughout 2022, I debated if I should buy and read The Atlas Six. It is a very popular book on TikTok, but the story is not one that really interested me. Since I was undecided, I told myself if the book is available for sale at my closest Walmart, I’d buy it and read it. Not very long after I made this decision, I found a paperback copy at Walmart. Even though I bought it, things became very busy for me, causing me to not be able to read it. In 2023, I hope to finally read it.
All the Christmas Books I Bought and Didn’t Read in 2022
And finally, the book, or in this case books, I want to read in 2023 is all the Christmas themed books I bought and didn’t read. I don’t know what happened in my mind, but I kept purchasing Christmas themed books all year long. I guess I really wanted to look forward to Christmas! Since I went on such a large, drawn out shopping spree for Christmas themed books, I didn’t have the time to finish reading all the books. In 2023, I will make sure to read them, even if it means reading them in June!
