TV Show Review: Reindeer in Here (2022)
On November 29, 2022, CBS aired Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Even though I owned the show on DVD, I watched this year’s broadcast due to an overwhelming need for Christmas nostalgic. After the show ended, a new, one hour show premiered on CBS. The show, called Reindeer in Here, was a new show for 2022. Since it was new, I decided to watch it. After watching it, I decided to write a review about it for Blogmas.
The official summary of the show by CBS (At least when I watched the show on TV and looked for an episode summary given on my TV) is…
Bizzard, a young reindeer living at the North Pole, and his unique group of friends band together to save the future of Christmas, creating a magical holiday tradition in the process.
The show is inspired by a book called Reindeer in Here: A Christmas Friend. The movie features the voices of Adam DeVine, Mellissa Villasenor, Candace Cameron Bure, Henry Winkler, Jim Gaffingan, Donald Faison, and Jo Koy.
The book that inspired the show has a similar concept to Elf on a Shelf. For Reindeer in Here, a child is given a plush reindeer that they can name, get to know, and become friends with. The reindeer then talks to Santa Claus and tells him about the child. That way Santa can get to know the child better. The show is about how Blizzard invented Reindeer in Here and why.
I really liked the show. It’s different than the children Christmas shows I normally watch, which date from the 1960’s to 1990’s. I don’t always like modern children Christmas shows, but this one I really liked. The story, which focuses on Bizzard’s journey to find Santa Claus’ snow globe is really enjoyable and interesting. The addition of the hooded villain who steals the snow globe is an interesting and unexpected twist to the story. The animation is also really nice. It is CGI (Computer Generated Imagery), which could look really bad if not enough attention is paid to it. Reindeer in Here’s animation is very smooth and well done.
I highly recommend this show to families looking for a new family friendly Christmas show to watch. I never read the book, so I don’t know how similar the show is to the book. There aren’t Christmas songs in the show, so it would be a great show for anyone looking for a Christmas show without songs.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
