Burt’s Bees New Sensitive Skin Line: What’s New and What’s Not

Earlier this year, I began to run out of my favorite face cleanser. My favorite facial cleanser for the past few years is Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Cleanser. After searching for it, I discovered the cleanser’s ingredients has changed. At that time, I tried to find more information about it, but I couldn’t. Since I needed more face cleanser, I decided to buy it and try it. After trying it, I liked it, but I want to write a full review about it in a future post.

In the mean time, I wanted to talk about the differences between the old version of the line and the new. Even though they look different, the only difference is one of the advertised major ingredient that makes it sensitive skin friendly. I will talk about that later in this post.

First, I wanted to share photographs of what the old skin care line products looked like.

I used to own three of the products. I took photographs of the products in hopes of writing a post about them in the future. Now that the main ingredient has changed, I don’t need to write a review about them. Instead, I’m using the photographs to show what the line used to look like.

Here are the three products I used to own in the line. The products are (From left to right) Daily Moisturizing Cream, Night Cream, and Facial Cleanser…

Now that the main ingredient has changed, the packaging has changed as well. The new facial cleanser looks like this…

I don’t own any other products from the new version of the line. My plan is to use the facial cleanser, see how I like it, and buy the other products if I like the facial cleanser a lot.

Even though I already mentioned this, the main difference between the old line and new line is the advertised main ingredient. In the old line, the advertised main ingredient was cotton extract. In the new line, the cotton seed oil has been replaced by aloe. It is most obvious on the front of the product packaging. The old line had cotton plants as part of the packaging. In the new line, it has aloe plant leaves instead of the cotton. Also, the new facial cleaners is now called “Gentle Cream Cleanser” instead of “Facial Cleanser.”

Even though the products have different packaging, and the packaging says it has a different key ingredient, they are the same product. Well, at least the facial cleaner is the same product. I need to do more research into the other products before I can say they too are the same product!

This may not make sense at first. After all, the facial cleanser has a different name, different packaging, and different dominant ingredient. Yet, it is still the same product. This can be confirmed by reading the ingredients list. The list, located on the back of both cleansers, says the exact same ingredients in the same exact order. Both products have cotton extract (In the form of a cotton flower blossom extract) and aloe extract (In the form of ale barbedness leaf juice). Both products list these ingredients in the same order in the ingredients list.

Since they are the same product, (Well, the facial cleanser at least) if you are a fan of the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skincare Line and are upset the facial cleanser has changed, fear not. It is still the same exact product. Just different packaging. The other products in the line could be different, but that will take more research on my end, or another social media influencer interested in beauty and skincare, to confirm it.
