Top 5 Favorite Christmas Songs for 2018
It’s the day before Christmas eve! I hope everyone is ready or almost ready!
Since I’m winding down the Christmas themed posts for Blogmas, I decided to list my top 5 favorite Christmas songs. I need to admit, my favorite Christmas songs fluctuate depending on the year and the mood I’m in, but I decided to list my favorite Christmas songs for 2018. If I do Blogmas next year, which I hope I’ll have time to do, I plan on making a new list for that year. It will be fun to see if I’m in the same mood for the same Christmas songs!
Anyway, enough talking! Onto the songs!
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year- Andy Williams
For me, it’s just not Christmas without hearing Andy Williams’ version of It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. The local radio station “announces” their switch from their regular music line up to Christmas music by playing this song. I really love it and, whenever I’m having a bad day during the holiday season, hearing this song cheers me up.
White Christmas- Bing Crosby and
Panic! at the Disco
The next song on my list is Bing Crosby and Panic! at the Disco’s version of White Christmas. The song, written by Irving Berlin, was used the movie Holiday Inn staring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Although there are other Bing Crosby holiday songs I love, White Christmas is my favorite. As for Panic! at the Disco’s version, I discovered it when it was posted on Panic! at the Disco’s official Tumblr years ago. Although it was never made available for digial download, I still love it. If you want to hear it, search for it on YouTube.
Last Christmas- Wham
Growing up, I didn’t care for Last Christmas by Wham. It’s not that I didn’t like it, I actually liked it better than other more recent versions of Last Christmas. It was just liked other Christmas and holiday songs better. As I grew older, I began to like it more and more. Although I like this song, I like Wham’s version only. Yes, there are other good version of Last Christmas, but I just love the original to care about the others.
O Holy Night- Josh Groban
I’m a fan of Josh Groban, and my favorite Christmas song is his version of O Holy Night. Although the song I’m talking about can be found on the deluxe edition of Josh Groban’s holiday album Noel, it can also be found as a bonus track on the CD of Josh Groban in Concert. I heard Josh’s version of O Holy Night while listening to the CD of Josh Groban in Concert and I wished he would release a holiday album. Years later, he did. To this day, Josh’s O Holy Night makes me want to stop whatever I’m doing and listen.
Linus & Lucy- Vince Guaraldi Trio
The last song on my favorite Christmas song list is Linus and Lucy. This song, written by Vince Guaraldi and performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, is a song who’s name is not very recognizable, but the melody is easily recognized when heard because it was used in A Charlie Brown Christmas. While this song can be heard in other Penuts animated specials, it was used for the first time in the Christmas special. Although you hear only the first few minutes of the song in the special, I highly suggest listening to the whole entire song, especially if you are a fan of jazz music.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
