It has been many months since I wrote a post about how my eczema and allergies are. Even though I haven’t mentioned or updated about how I’m doing, they are getting better.
The eczema I’ve been dealing with is getting better. I decided to completely stop using my old eczema body wash I talked about in a previous post. After using it for a few weeks after publishing the post, my eczema returned… and I began to break out in hives. After reading the back of the bottle, I discovered it has soy oil in it. Since I am allergic to soy, I needed to find a new body wash as soon as possible.
The one I ended up settling on is the Aveeno Baby Cleansing Therapy. As the name suggests, it is for babies. At that time I was struggling so much with my allergies that I decided to buy a baby body wash for sensitive and eczema prone skin. My logic behind this is that baby products are required to have less ingredients that I am allergic to than the adult products do.
So, I tried it. And it worked!
The swelling in the areas of my body where the eczema are located have really decreased. I am in less pain and my skin feels much better. Although I don’t recommend baby products to everyone, using baby products for my skin has helped me out a lot. In fact, I was so inspired by my progress that I decided to try a shampoo and conditioner for babies with eczema and sensitive skin. It worked really well too. My eczema patches on my ear and my scalp have healed and my hair feels much better too!
Since eczema is also sometimes linked to allergies, I tried really hard to stick to my diet. I don’t need to loose weight (I think?) but I did create myself a diet that is healthy for me to eat, yet does not contain my food allergies. Sadly, this does mean I need to eat home cooked meals full time. Although there are restaurants in my area that I think do cook food from scratch the way I need to prepare them, I want to take absolutely no chances. So, going out and eating has been cut out of my life. And it make me feel sad.
Although I am sad about my diet, it has caused me to feel much better. I have more energy because my body is not constantly fighting food allergies and my immune system’s ability to recover from viruses has improved a lot. Even though it is a nuisance and makes life harder on me, I am improving and feeling much better than I used to. I am also starting to enjoy learning new recipes and eating a wide variety of foods.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
