Books I Want to Read in 2024

Since it is the last day of 2023, I decided to write a list of all the books I want to read in 2024. I did this in 2023, you can read that post here, but I didn’t actually finish the list! Instead, 2023 was a busy year for me. Sadly, whenever the year gets busy like it did in 2023, I don’t like to read. Instead, I like to watch TV or sleep… usually sleep! For 2024, I’m trying to make a list of the books I feel the most confident I will read before the end of the year. I feel like this list is a healthy list of books I feel very drawn to and books I want to read or reread in 2024. I hope in 2024 will provide me with more opportunities to read instead of just rest!

Lord of the Rings Trilogy

I read the Lord of the Ring Trilogy (And The Hobbit but, for this post, I’m talking about it as part of the “Trilogy”… even though it is not officially a trilogy anymore) when I was a teenager and again in my very early 20’s. Now, I feel like I need to read all the books over again. I am excited to read them, but I’m not sure if my excitement will fade as the year goes on.

Dune

Not sure why I want to reread it, but I know it’s not because of the movie. I like the story, but I feel like reading a different book and book series right now. Still, I feel the pull to read it in 2024.

Jenny Colgan Christmas Novels

I wanted to read or re read the three Jenny Colgan Christmas novels I own this year. (The novels are The Christmas Bookshop, Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop, and Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe.) Sadly, I didn’t have the time for it. I ended up putting them aside until 2024. I’m very serious about reading them, even if it means I read them in the middle of a heat wave in June!

Laid Back Camp Volume 1

Laid Back Camp is not a novel, but a manga. It is about two girls that meet while one is camping. The first volume is about how the two become friends and start camping together. I remember reading it a few years ago and really liked it. This year, I decided to read all the copies I own… which is only the first volume! I wanted to read a light hearted yet enjoyable manga for a while, but I couldn’t think of a series to read. Laid Back Camp is the perfect manga for this!

Anna and the French Kiss

I read Anna and the French Kiss many years ago. Even though I liked it a lot, I didn’t feel like rereading it until last year. I was able to start reading it (After I purchased a copy of the book) but I didn’t finish it. In 2024, I would like to finish reading it. Ideally, I would like to read it in January or very early February. Right now, I think it would make a great romance novel to reread in honor of Valentine’s Day!

The Chronicles of Prydain

I tried to read the whole The Chronicles of Prydain this past fall, but I didn’t finish the series. This year, I want to try to either finish reading it or reread it. I’m not sure which one I’ll feel like doing. (Or have the time to do!)

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
