May 2023 Collective Book Haul
It may be September, but I am still going through and reading all the books I purchased over the past few months. I had originally wanted to write book haul posts about them, but I didn’t get the chance to. Since this it is the very end of summer and the fall/autumn fandom side of social media is talking about reading, I decided to move forward to writing and publishing the old book haul posts I never got around to finishing!
I purchased all the books at Walmart in May. All the books were on sale. I wanted to buy some of the books for a few years, but I never felt the books were in my price range. Since many of the books were on sale, I decided to buy them. Also, the books vary in subject matter.
The first book in the haul is Agent Running in the Field by John le Carre…
I like some of John le Carre books, but I don’t remember reading this one. I probably did (And I read borrowed copy from a friend of mine) but I didn’t remember. Since I like some of le Carre’s books, I decided to buy this one.
The next book in the haul is The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner…
This book is about a group of Jane Austen fans who campaigned to save Jane Ausetn’s home in the 1950’s. I liked Jane Austen’s novels and the premise of the story.
The next book in this haul is Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life by Gisele Bundchen…
I remember when this book was released. I was curious about it, but I didn’t purchase it. When I found it on sale, I decided to pick up a copy. It is an autobiography about Gisele.
The next book in this haul is Open Book by Jessica Simpson…
Like the Gisele Bundchen book, I heard about this book but never purchased it. When I saw it was part of the discounted price, I debated if I wanted to purchase it. I don’t normally like autobiographies. Yet, after my decision to purchase Gisele’s book, I thought I should also give this book a chance. I finally decided to purchase it, but, months after I purchased it, I debate if I like it or not.
The next few books I purchased are by Debbie MaComber. They include Ready for Marriage…
Dakota Born…
And The Best is Yet to Come…
I also purchased The Wedding Planner by Danielle Steel…
All four books were not for sale at the discounted price. I wanted to own some new romance novels to read. All four books sound interesting. Even though they weren’t on sale, I liked them enough to buy them.
The final two books in this haul were available for the discounted price. They include The Unofficial Bridgerton Cook Book…
And Country Music: An Illustrated History…
I was very surprised to see both books available for the discounted price! I wanted to buy the cook book since it was released. I never felt comfortable to buy it until I looked at it. When I saw it at a discounted price, I browsed it and really like it. So, I bought it.
The same thing goes for country Music: An Illustrated History. It is a tie in, coffee table book to the Ken Burns film series documenting the history of Country music on PBS. It was quite pricey (For me at least) when I saw it for sale the first time. Finding it in the discount books was a happy surprise!
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
