5 Romance Novels (and Series) to Read on Valentine’s Day
Watching romantic movies are a great way to spend Valentine’s Day, but if you prefer to read, there are plenty of books to choose from! Even though there are many books to choose from, here are five romance novels, and even a series, to read this Valentine’s Day.
Pride and Prejudice
By Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice is an old favorite of romance lovers. This novel, which follows the romance between the Bennet Sisters but focuses mostly on the eldest daughter, Elizabeth Bennet, takes place in the Regency period. Even though it takes place and was written almost two hundred years ago, it’s observations of love, social status, family loyalty, and a women’s place in the world are still important and poignant today. If you are looking for a romance classic that doesn’t fit into the modern day trope of romance novels, read Pride and Prejudice!
The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure
By William Goldman
The Princess Bride has made it onto many of my lists this year, but I’m not embarrassed about it! I love the story that much. If you love the movie as much as I do, then consider reading the novel that inspired the movies. There are more details about the story that are missed in the movie that fans will enjoy learning about.
The Bride Quintet Series
By Nora Roberts
The Bride Quintet Series are four books written by Nora Roberts. The series follows four women who are childhood friends. They work together for a self owned wedding company where they help couples get married, but can’t find love themselves. Throughout the four books, each women finds true love in different places while retaining their friendships. I really enjoyed reading the series and highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a good romance series.
Twilight
By Stephenie Myer
Back in the 2000’s, Twilight was the it book for teenagers looking for romance novels. The book, which follows Bella Swan and her meeting and romance with vampire Edward Cullen, is still a popular book for teenagers to read. If you want a throwback book from your teens in the 2000’s, or want to read a novel that was popular with teens in the 2000’s, read Twilight.
Outlander
By Diana Gibbon
Outlander is a popular historical romance TV series. The plot revolves around an English woman who travels to Scotland with her husband. While there, she is accidentally transported back to the 1700’s where she finds love and adventure. The book the TV series is based off follows the same plot outline. If you are looking for more adventure in your romance novels, then read Outlander.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
