Urban Decay Stoned Vibes Pallet Review

Back in 2021, I found a sale on the Urban Decay Stoned Vibes eye shadow pallet. I wanted to try the pallet, but couldn’t justify purchasing it at the time it was released. When I saw it on sale, I decided it was a great opportunity to purchase the pallet. As of the publishing of this post, the pallet is still available on Urban Decay’s website but not on other websites such as Sephora.

The box the pallet comes in looks like this on the front…

And this on the back…

Sorry about the difference of photograph sizes. I edited this on my new computer, which I am trying to get used to, and I messed up the sizing scale. So, this photograph and others in this post are different sizes.

Here is what the box and the pallet looks like opened…

This is what the pallet looks like from the front and closed…

A close up of the pallet open…

And a close up of the eye shadow pallet itself…

Like with a few other Urban Decay pallets I own, this pallet comes with a double sided brush…

One end of the brush (The left side of the brush in the photograph) is for picking up the eye shadow and applying while the other side (The right side in the photograph) is a crease brush and can be used for blending.

The eye shadow pallet comes with twelve eye shadows, four matte colors and eight glitter colors. The matte colors complement the glitter shades as well. All the eye shadows are named either after stones or what crystals and stones are believed to do to heal, protect, and give good energy.

When I saw this pallet online for the first time, I was interested in it. I thought the premise of stone inspired eye shadows could be a beautiful pallet with unique colors that other pallets don’t normally have. Also, I’m a fan of Urban Decay’s eye shadows and the way they blend, so I thought it could be a great pallet to own. Yet, when I saw it on display for the first time, I wasn’t sure if this pallet would match what I thought it would be in my imagination.

When I saw it the first time, the glitter shades looked like they have chunky glitter pieces. I thought the glitter eye shadow shades would be much less chunky and more subdued in their shape. I wasn’t sure how it would work on the skin because, in my mind, it would be similar to chunky shaped body glitter I used to see in the 1990’s. Because of this, I didn’t know if a brush would pick up the glitter and blend it like the glitter shades with smaller glitter pieces from other Urban Decay pallets. Even though I was worried about it, this ended up not being the case. The shades have fine glitter pieces in them and the “glitter pieces” are actually swirls of a secondary color in the eye shadow pans. Together, the combine to make a beautiful two toned metallic, or sparkly, shade. As for why I thought the eye shadows had large pieces of glitter in them, I saw the pallet in store, but it was under a plastic wrap to prevent shoppers from touching the pallet and causing the spread of germs and Covid-19. Because of this, I couldn’t see the shades as well as I thought I did.

As for the texture and how well the shades blend, they work beautifully. All the shades, including the glitter ones, are easy to blend, not patchy, and are highly pigmented. The glitter shades are very shiny but are easy to blend into the matte shades if desired. My favorite shades in the pallet are Good Karma, a matte eye shadow in a taupe shade great for transitioning bright colored eye shadows into my natural skin tone, and Opal Aura, a white and purple glitter/metallic shade that is perfect for the inner corner of the eye. I love these shades so much I use them in combination with other eye shadow pallets.

I really love this pallet, especially the glitter shades, and highly recommend it. As with all eye shadow pallets, especially at the price points Urban Decay pallets are ate, I suggest looking at the colors in the pallet to see if it will work well with other eye shadows you already own and if the colors are the kind you will actually like to wear. This way, it will make the price of the pallet more financially sustainable and will allow you to enjoy using the pallet more frequently. The pallet’s glitter/metallic shades are beautiful and, even though I love the matte shades, the glitter/metallic shades are the major reason why I recommend this pallet.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
