This year has been an interesting year for books and I. I have been reading through my home library of books and discovered I own quite a few books I don’t like. Since I’m struggling to find a book I like to read in my home library, I don’t want to purchase any books right now. That way I won’t be adding new books to my library while I read what I already own.
Even though I don’t want to purchase any new books, I have been purchasing books second hand that I want to reread to see if I want to keep them. Also, I have been looking at the new releases. For the most part, I’m not interested in the new releases. There are reasons why, but the main one is because I’m now particular about the books I purchase and read.
Despite this, there are four new book releases I’m really excited about. I am so excited about the books that I preordered them! I am really looking forward to reading them when they are finally released!
I like book version of Kiki’s Delivery Service a lot. For quite some time, I knew there is a second book about Kiki, but it had yet to be translated from Japanese and published in the United States. So, I couldn’t continue reading about Kiki’s adventures. A month or so ago, I was very surprised to see that not only is Kiki’s Delivery Service getting a hard cover version, but the second book, Kiki and the New Magic, would be released in hard cover as well! Since I’m a fan of the book and really want to read the second book, I preordered it. As of this post, Kiki and the New Magic, along with Kiki’s Delivery Service, will be released on August 25, 2026.
I’ve been collecting and reading Cassandra Clare’s novels for almost twenty years. Her newest novel, The Last King of Faerie, is the first book in a new trilogy, The Wicked Powers. The Wicked Powers is also the last trilogy in the Shadowhunters series that began with The Mortal Instruments. Since this will be the last trilogy, I want to read and own it.
As of this post, the book will be released on November 3, 2026.
I used to really love the musical, Phantom of the Opera. It was my favorite musical in high school and still remains a musical I wish I could rewatch to this day. (What I mean by rewatching, I mean the original 1988 staging. The staging changed in the 2010’s. I prefer the 1988 staging way more than the 2010’s version.)
This year will be the 40th anniversary of the premiere of Phantom of the Opera in London. In celebration of the musical, there are multiple books that will be released later on this year. I found three books in celebration of Phantom. They are a novel called Our Strange Duet, a Little Golden Book, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera: A Behind-the-Mask Look at the Global Phenomenon. The last book is the book I really want to read and own. It talks about the history of the musical and shows behind the scenes look of the musical. Sometimes, behind the scenes books have not lived up to my expectations. I hope this one will be one of the books that lives up to my expectations.
As of this post, the book will be released on October 27, 2026.
This book, along with Kiki and the New Magic, The Mighty Thor is the book I’m the most excited about. Penguin Publishing has been releasing a series of books for a few years featuring the first comic appearances of some of the most beloved characters from Marvel Comics. I have been collecting Penguin Publishing’s series of books since they were released for the first time. For me, they are a more affordable way of owning the comic books with each character’s origin stories than buying the previously printed comics second hand.
The Mighty Thor is one of my favorite characters from Marvel Comics, so I was waiting for it to be released. This year, Penguin Publishing will be (finally!) releasing The Mighty Thor. I can’t wait to own a copy and read it. I normally need to borrow my friends’ comics. Now I won’t need to!
As of this post, the book will be released on September 15, 2026.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
