Tru Fragrance’s Southern Soul Eau de Parfum Review

Many years ago, I discovered Tru Western, an American fragrance company. The fragrances they released were so pretty and I didn’t have problems with my allergies like I did with other fragrances I owned.

Since then, I have moved onto other fragrances that are more hypoallergenic than my old fragrances. Still, I missed Tru Fragrance’s scents. My health has improved enough that I can start trying my old favorite fragrances and see if I still like them. Since I miss Tru Fragrance so much, I search for my favorite old scents and slowly bought bottles of them to try them out.

One of the first fragrances I wanted to try is Southern Soul. I used to really like it as a spring and summer fragrance. Since I am in the process of trying my old beauty products, I decided to write a review about one of my old favorite fragrances.

This is what the box the bottle comes in look like…

Here is the description of the fragrance on the back to the box…

And here is what the flap of the box says…

Most of Tru Fragrance’s boxes has some sort of a quote that ties into the fragrance.

And finally, here is the bottle looks like…

I really like the packaging and the bottle is very pretty.

The description of the fragrance on Amazon says…

When I sprayed the fragrance for the first time, I remembered how much I used to love the scent… and why I love it so much! It has citrus notes of apples and lemon that just bought me back to the days when I used to wear it. I used to love berry and citrus notes in fragrances, but citrus notes like the ones I love are so hard to find in modern day fragrances. This fragrance is one that still has my favorite kind of citrus notes in fragrances. It is so nice to see how it didn’t change in all the years since I wore it last!

Although Southern Soul carries so much nostalgia for me, there are some things I was quickly remembered about it. First, it does have amber, which I normally don’t like. In the description of the fragrance, the amber note is describes as a “soft amber”. I agree with this description of the amber note. It is soft, making it a fragrance note one I like a lot. The second thing I remembered about it is how fresh and light is smells. It is a great fragrance to wear when you need to smell nice, but not overpowering. The third and final thing I remembered about it is how long it lasts… which isn’t very long. Within twenty minutes the apple and lemon scents fade and the fragrance is not very noticeable. Back when I used to use it, I liked this a lot. I wasn’t able to find a fragrance that was allergy friendly at all, so I used this fragrance because it would fade. Today, I am a little disappointed about how fast it fades, yet it is still very noticeable on my skin hours after I applied it. I believe this is because fragrance is designed to work with the wearer’s natural oils. Their skin’s oils will help hold onto the fragrance and keep it from fading.

As you can imagine, I love this fragrance. I am glad to say I haven’t suffered from any allergic reaction to it, which makes me happy. It still smells as lovely as it used to and I’m happy it is back in my fragrance collection. Even though I love it so much, the way it lasts on the skin is something I think will be off putting to many. If you are looking for a more robust, very long lasting spring and summer fragrance with scent notes that are more pronounced, this is not the fragrance for you. It is a light fragrance that works really well and, even though it fades more than other fragrances, will stay on the skin for hours at a time, but it isn’t a very loud fragrance. It is a feminine, ladylike fragrance and, as I already said before, is light. It is best for anyone who likes citrus notes but wants a subtitle fragrance that doesn’t overpower a person’s senses.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
