I’m not someone who likes to follow trends unless they work for me. This is especially true when it comes to home decor. I like what I like and if I spend quite a bit of money to surround myself with these things, I want to keep them for a long time. This is why choosing a new “theme” for this year’s home decor was abnormal for me. Especially since the them is lemons!
Yes, you read that right. My new theme is lemons. I don’t want to have lemons all over the house, but I do what a fake lemon plant and a new summer wreath with lemons on it. I need a new wreath anyway, so getting one with lemons sounded logical.
The reason why I decided to add lemon decor around my house is based off my intention of adding more yellow in my spring and summer decor. I don’t like yellow, but last year wasn’t easy on me for many reasons. Yet, seeing something colored yellow randomly popping up cheered me up. This meant a lot to me and helped lift my spirits. This also began to make me wonder why I don’t have more yellow colored things in my life.
I don’t look good in yellow, so wearing clothing in a shade of yellow was not logical. Instead, I decided to focus on adding more yellow colored home decor pieces around my home. Last year, I didn’t get very far. I added some new fake sunflower arrangements to my house and that was it.
Since I’m not a natural fan of yellow, I realized how hard it is for me to find yellow home decor pieces I like. So, the sunflowers became the only yellow in my home. This year, I decided to change that.
I wanted to grow citrus trees for years, but I never had the chance to do it. This year, I decided to ignore my desires to grow citrus trees and instead focus on other plants. Yet, seeing these trees in the garden department has been a hard temptation to ignore! One day, while looking a some lemon trees, it dawned on me to combine the two things I want the most, yellow home decor and lemon trees, into some indoor home decor I can use through the summer months.
So far the only lemon themed decor I currently own are a fake lemon tree from Walmart and a lemon wreath I purchased from Amazon. As of right now I am no longer looking for any more home decor, but I am eyeing a “When Life Gives You Lemons… “ sign. Other than that, I’m happy with my lemon home decor collection!
All the pieces I own look good with all the others. I wish I had a more cohesive look to my decor, but, despite the fact they don’t match, they still somehow work together. I don’t know how, but it does to my eyes.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
